Hi guys!
I am looking into buying a digital camera for myself. I don't have vast amounts of cash so the price has to be under £200, it's hopefully going to be my birthday present so it can't be too expensive. I have to pay atleast 1/4 of the price.

With the camera I will be looking for:
* Under £200
* As high as possible optical zoom
* High amount of mega pixel's
* Small enough to fit in either a pocket or a small carrier case.

Personally, I don't really care what it looks like. My Dad uses a Finepix A310 which is quite good but I want to have something better.

The main things that I will probably be taking photo's of is cars (stationary or on the move) and scenery (Holiday's....).

I have been looking at a Finepix F40d which has a 8.3 million pixel camera, RPT (Real Photo Technology), Face detection, Intelligent flash, GUI (Improved graphic user interface), 3.0x Optical zoom, Enhanced 2.5 LCD display. Here's a link for more information: Click Here

So what do you guys recommend? All help is appreciated.

DON'T GET THE F40fd!
Get the F31fd. Much better low light performance. ISO 400 is nearly perfect on that thing.

You really shouldn't be looking for Digital Zoom, it's the work of the devil.

Ricoh are rather good at fitting a huge lens in a small package. I use an R4 pretty often, and I like it. The image quality isn't quite up to my Dimage Z2, but it's about the fastest snapper I've ever used, and it's not much bigger than my phone.

6.0mp, 2.5 inch screen, 7x optical zoom, wide angle lens, ridiculously fast start up time and it doesn't look half bad. Check it out. There are newer models too.

I really do like the sound of the Finepix F31fd. Do you know what the speed is between pressing the button and the photo actually taking? On my Dad's there is quite a long delay.

Thanks for your help DWA, but does anyone know the answer to my question? It's kind of important as I may be purchasing in a day or so.

Awesome! I think I will be getting this camera after my Dad just said "It's got a 85% rating in What camera, the highest one I have seen was 87%, in other words it's pretty darn good".

My mum got this. Casio Exilim EX-Z1000

not a bad camera, lower ISO is usless, but providing you shoot in ok light you would be ok, that was my only gripe with it. If you want images taken im willing to do it.
