Now that i have my p4 up and running, sort of, ive run into another problem.

I installed windows xp on a fresh harddrive, and it goes to start up. Good yes? After it goes through the loading screen that says windows xp professional, i have a black screen, thats it.

Before the Windows startup screen, press F8 and choose Last Known Good Configuration.

If that doesn't work, reinstall.

Sounds like you have memory problems. Are your memory and FSB speeds set properly?

Uh, sure, actually i have no idea what your talking about, when its done with another format and clean install ill flash the bios, which i just found out i need to do. Also, i might actualyl have a 3.2 ghz cpu :P

Eh, not really.

For example, on my computer, if I restart it from windows the mobo has no reason to check the RAM and doesn't even state how much there is. Now, if I start up from cold, it does check the RAM. Perhaps... ?

If the memory or FSB speeds are set to high, it will reboot or crash Windows. During POST, it counts how much memory there is. If it doesn't, there is something wrong.

ViperZero, ive tried to contact you on aim from my laptop but you wont respond. I have to eat and do a few things, then ill be online, please respond, maybe you can help me with those fsb speeds or whatever they are. At least, when my fresh windows install finishes, i keep getting blue screens right before it finishes.

I was probably away or sleeping, sorry. You can try tonight or into tomorrow morning.
