Live in Auckland is it's not super-fast.

ATTENTION:

For some odd reason, my mb/s has been goin' a bit everywhere.
I did three tests about a minute ago.
One speed was ~25.3mb/s.
One speed was ~12.5mb/s
This speed:

EDIT: just saw my speedtest.net summary. My average mb/s is 14.6mb/s. I as just lucky that day :indiff:

I get around 20 MBPS downloads and close to 1 MBPS uploads (wireless), still, activison makes me host (For COD Mw2), and everyone laggs like hell. Oh and my ping is usually 3-7.

my Grandma (wired) gets 1.6 MBPS download and 1.1 MBPS upload. Ping - 36.

Not the fastest here obviously, but pages load instantly, youtube videos loaded in 10 seconds, a 700mb movie in a minute (which doesn't really make sense according to speedtest, but apparently it's faster).

And interestingly, my friend, who lives about a half of a mile away from me and is on the same ISP, gets less than half of this speed. Guess I'm lucky :D

Being on the same ISP doesn't mean he has the same plan. He could be on a 10 meg connection.

Or maybe his just sucks. :P

You serious? It takes me about half a day to load a 700MB film.

That's for $60AUD/month. Shoot me now. :indiff:

May i note this was over wireless but the speed and ping isn't really much better on a wired connection.

EDIT: It takes you a minute for a 700MB file?? In about the same time i can upload a 1MB e-mail. :ill:

And I've downloaded a gig in a minute. Thank you Microsoft, for the one nice thing you've done for me of late.

A gig takes me 2 hours, a movie takes an hour and a half, fastest internet in my new area is ADSL1, well done Australia!

I just wonder, how does your ISP manage a 4.3/5 rating with dreadful connections and a huge price for it? My connection is for $70USD, bbut that's also for HD cable, and phone!

I am assuming the coverage is better in the city, this is supposed to be a 1.5MB/s connection, but i often don't get that speed. I live in a fairly remote area, so coverage is poor. I am disappointed with the constant maintanence on the broadband tower though.

We can get higher speeds, but it costs a fortune, too much for the average household. (up to $100AUD for like 5-10MB/s) I think mostly only businesses and the school have that sort of speed around here.

And I thought my 4 megs were fast. I was feeling good that nnow after hain only 1 meg i can watch youtube in HD without it stopping. But now i find this place and everyone's awesome internet.... holy hell!

At best it can go to 1.0 but still there's problems in COD MW2 most of the times the others can kill me even thought i shoot them first

Now these are some abnormal results! The download speed should be limited at 10Mb but I got 18Mbs. Did they upgrade my area or something?

So with these kind of speeds could I see that I have the Extreme package from time warner?

Exact same plan, I checked.

It could be to do with the fact that your friend is on a different phone circuit to you. I live less than one mile from my exchange, and If I was to stand on the roof of my house, I could see it very clearly.

But, and this is the problem, the actual length of the wiring (ie. the telephone cables) from my house to the exchange is three miles! I live in the middle of a big housing estate, and my signal has to travel practically half way around my estate before it gets to the exchange. 👍

Makes sense, but it's fiber optics, would it still make such a difference? Oh, and another friend of mine in a different area with the same provider and plan gets even less than that other friend.... :/

Optical Fiber and new ISP FTW!!!

I get exactly the contracted download limit (20 Mb) and seem to get 500kb plus to my actual contractual 2 Mb limit of upload:

Might redo this, my Internet Usage reset over the week...

Will do ping next, expect an edit

Used to have cable, but now changed to optical fiber. We got to keep up with the lastest thecnologies;)! Had a big diference in the Upload and my package should only provide 100MB and 10 upload:)!

AH ah, it's seems like MEO gives more upload than the contractual, which is always welcome :P

Did you've done those results wired? Since MEO uses REAL Optical Fiber, you should get the exactly 100Mb of Download. Even though, the 10Mb plus of upload compensate allot more than more 10Mb of download.
I really was eager to find some results on the MEO 100 Mb package. 👍

Yes wired results;)! MEO is great you know! Much better than ZON, wich i had previouly. The internet is way better, because beeing ADSL is dedicated. Even the TV has better quality. The HD channels are at 1080i, therefore the quality is easily noticed comparing it to other companys service. Days ago i decided to try it out for those 2 free weeks and i kept the service. You should give it a try, its free:D!

EDIT: Oh yeah, i forgot! They REALLY install the fiber to your home;)!

I know, I actually have MEO for about one month now, switched from ZON and the difference in quality and speed is immense. Much better in everything. 👍
