My thoughts EXACTLY, and is why the cars MUST be separated via a different game mode or race restrictions.

Which is a royal pissah because it severely limits the combination of races possible and could mean you can't even setup some races you really want to.

At least this Issue Got Attention, If they just added more Polygons by smoothing the whole Model and maybe Separating Panels, at least on Cars that should be customizable...

Bot nope, Those are just the same GT4 Photomode Models, nothing else.

And with the new lighting engine and higher resolution, filling out more vertexes, sticking some real panel seperation in there and upping the texture res would have made these cars look SOOO much better... but no... not even that...

Idk what else there is to say here. You guys have summed it up...I'm glad to see that after almost a week of debate that people actually see what myself and some others have been trying to say.

The game doesn't come out till November, so maybe PD will get to crackin' on refining the standard cars.

Just to throw it out there, expect approximately 3 months to go towards final testing, certification and pressing/shipping stock.

Figure that into your timeline of how long they have to work on things...

What is it with this game? Every time I hear great news, some really bad ones follow to completely kill the buzz. Being a GT fan is tough business...

I'm sure refining GT4 models is much faster than the premium cars. They can work like clockwork while testing goes on at the same time.

Hahaha yeah, this is getting worse than the 10,000 GT4 delays. I pre ordered the Collectors Edition though, in hopes that they do separate the standards and premiums. I'll be ok with that.

I would think if it was that easy they would have done it by 6 years into the dev cycle? I suppose anythings possible but I would hope if they try they make sure to nail all 800... even worse than this would be 200 premiums, 300 standard plus and 500 standards.

Dude, you know that super hot chick I was hitting on? She's called me back! But it turns out most of her hotness is inch thick makeup... But she's willing to sleep with me!!! But she has STDs... But she's apparently freaky in bead! But I heard that from the 58 other guys who already slept with her... But she likes video games too! But she used to be a guy....

Rollercoasters... heartbreaking sometimes no?

Oh dear lord, please no more messing with GT5. I'd rather have PD release the game with 800 standard cars without any kind of cockpit view at all than to have them push it back due to some stuff going wrong again.

Imho, just use the last few month to double aand tripple check the game, hunt down any bugs and tweak it a little, but no more messing with anything major.

Its just that, its Dissappointing to find Youll have a Really Inconsistent Game in the More important part of it, Racing!

I just cant Ignore seeing a Premium Beautiful GT5 Car followed by a GT4 car

I Guess its me, but I would prefer a GT Life Mode made of Premium Cars Only, and a Classic GT Mode of Standards Only, and they could keep adding Premium Cars Via DLC to the GT Life mode...

That might be the case like i said in another thread You know what i was thinking i am very pleased an excited about GT5! I was thinking to myself my brother and I play GT4 faithfully. When you think about the 800 cars we are getting (standard cars) they are going to run on the PS3 system which makes them look updated to other racing games, they will have visual and mechanical damage, and run on the Physics of GT5. This is like a PUMPED up GT4!! IMO i think PD gave us 2 games in 1. With a chance and go back, and conquer GT4 again in high def glory with great new additions. Also with the new GT5 with the new and great features and the state of the art graphics! I also belive GT5 will have DLC. In the end thank you Kaz and your staff for working hard on giving us a great game we can play for years!

I can see that point of view also... but then it still stands that basically PD advertised and implied 1 game which was all the content of both games at the higher standard of the two.

I feel bad for the standard cars...a lot of people are hating on them.

Well I for one am going to Champion their cause!

Standard > Premium.

Of course it is, but I'll rather wait for GT6 to fix that eventually than to witness some weird shenannigans with GT5 again.

Well Mac... oh well. I do have a feeling that when F4 rolls around, you'll be tongue lashing everyone who gives it a critical review. I also rather expect that engine sounds are going to have you giving GT5 a C minus, no matter how good it is otherwise.
Per usual in typical TD fashion, you just change the topic back on me. And as goes with the usual hypocrites, you tell us you're a GT fanboy & act as if it there's nothing wrong with that, yet you lash out against Dev.

As for what I think about F4 or GT5 doesn't matter. I'm not a big fan of Kinect so I'd rather F4 not solely rely on it. As for GT, I've been a supporter since the original, so you can't play the "You hate GT" card. Right now though, I'm not happy with some of the engine sounds, & I don't like the standard car idea. If those are the only 2 issues that remain til' release, I would still give it an A/B+ for everything else it managed to accomplish.

Because unlike you, I won't sit here & nitpick the living hell out of 1 of the games, and then let the other swing by without a glance. With that, go back to carry on your tirade against T10 & campaign to let everyone know they "SuCkZ" & that GT is #1.

I don't get why everyone isn't happy. GT had LESS than 200 cars in it after 5 years of developement time. So if they had only put 200 Premium cars into GT5 we still would have MORE content than in the original game. But they decided that they wanted to give us more and threw in all of the models from previous versions of the game, and ALL of the models STILL look FANTASTIC. Just because they don't have accurately modeled interior veiws on EVERY vehicle, we are going to whine, and cry, and say "you should have just left them out!" They never said that there were going to be 1000+ cars that had interior veiws and so on and so forth. The "standard" models look just as good as the "premium" models on the outside.

Me 2 its just sad to here these so called true GT fans diss the standard cars like that. I saw the hi def video and those cars look way better than the ones i play with in GT4 on PS2, not only that they get damage and have GT5 physics and i bet we get some sort of cockpit view for the standard cars so whats the damn problem? PD also gives you those choice to drive 200+ beautiful cars with a massive list of features what the hell is the problem?

Have you seen this?

Exactly, and what brings me down, Really Makes me sad is those 800 Models wont be as Customizable as the other 200 because they dont have Interchangeable Parts...Sadly.

Oh and, as a Proof that those 800 Models are JUST GT4 Models:

...I dont know You guys, but I dont see Any Improvement on the Car itself :yuck:

This corvette looks nowhere near a premium model on the outside.

Either way, I hope you're right and the standard car trailer is featuring some non-updated-yet models. I wouldn't bet on it however.

I think it still looks decent, but man, the line where the body panels meet does look very GT4-ish. Don't think it'll be an extremely noticeable thing, though.

Oh, just get over it. 200 cars on 20+ tracks with day/night cycle and weather is nothing we've seen on any other console racer yet. And you're probably passing any standard cars on a given track fast enough to not even notice whether they're standard or not.

They never said that there were going to be 1000+ cars that had interior veiws and so on and so forth.

I keep seeing this brought up. Two points:

1: True it's probably more like half and half with the blame for that expectation... half on PD for how they have lead us on and half on the GTP forums for insisting that everything would be as great as you could imagine it to be, and shunning anyone for saying elsewise (ironically mostly the people responsible for that are the ones annoyed most by the bed they made).

2: We are not in kindergarten, we do not have to promise each other things to make them legit, there is an understood level of communication between adults out there in the business world and something like this is considerd a lie of omission. You don't have to promise explicitly and then not deliver... when you carefully omit obviously important details in favor of obvious preferable ones consistently this long... you bring it on yourself.

Stop pulling the wool over your eyes. Look at the comparison picture of the C5R. In no way do the standard cars come within any sort of comparable detail with the premiums. And they are almost 100% like GT4s models.

Who said that?:odd: Duh genius the premium are build from scratch that why PD could only do 200 of them or it would of took forever. I'am saying for all us who played GT4 and loved it we get a better version with better graphics and visual/mechanical damage with more tracks to run on with night and day done in glorified HD its still a good deal for us.

In all fairness we have gotten all that but after 6 years and a heavily implication we would get so much more.

And as for the standard cars looking better than in GT4, they definitely do, but a large part of that is just due to lighting (shiny covers a lot) and higher res. Try running the original GT4 in PCSX2 in higher res and you will see they look pretty much like what we are seeing as standard cars in GT5.

What a lousy argument. So because a game from '98 had less than 200 cars, that's somehow still the standard we should judge the current games at? GT5 better have more content than an original PS1 game from over a decade ago. It's also completely questionable when KY spouts off the first game being in development that long, seeing as how the PlayStation was a completely, completely different animal in '92.

I love how the people with blinkers on will continue to spin this as a positive thing. "Give us more"? No, rehashing all the GT4 models isn't giving us more. Repeated interviews after GTHD said that GT5 would not amount to it; that we'd be getting everything completely new, GTHD was only supposed to be an example of what upscaled GT4 models could look like with PS3's better lighting capability. Now, years later, we really are getting GTHD, with a roughly GT3-sized garage of Premium cars attached. At least GT3 only took 2 years. Not 6.

The only positive I can see with the Standard cars is there's absolutely no excuse for not putting at least 16 cars on track with them. That's it. I didn't wait this long to essentially play GT4.5 with prettier lighting and a walking simulator. I was told it'd be a brand new game.

As for the people who keep talking about there still being 5 months before release, and that they can work on this... you realize we are talking about PD, right? When has their work ethic ever resembled anything faster than an asthmatic slug? They said they were working on the HSV SuperGT car back in January. And they said that now. There's not a lot of time left to improve on the actual game when they keep making trailers for each new car that gets revealed at auto shows.

I'd be far less bothered about the standard/premium issue if we had signs they'd really sorted out the rest of the game. GT has become weaker with each sequel in the actual racing department, but if we have a solid offline foundation in place, and a solid online one, that counts for a lot. Seeing as how they're more concerned with flexing their rendering muscles instead of the actual features that can make or break this game, I'm forced to assume that graphics are still far and away the number one priority. Which is unfortunate.
