Based on the Standard Cars video, it appears that the tire models will be the same as they were in GT4. However, I don't think we have seen anything to suggest the same holding true for the rims themselves.

I almost spat my drink out when I read this at first! It seems you meant model in the sense of "geometry", as your respondee also meant; however, I read it as model in the sense of "approximation", and was worried you meant the physics were the same as from GT4! :scared:

@ JDMKING13: Thanks for your continued impressions from the demos. It's sounding really great, almost to the point that I probably won't be seeking out a demo near me. 👍
The same goes for everyone else who posted their impressions!

I don't see why anyone is worried about the Standard car physics. The GT4 physics engine wasn't ported and won't be used, just the 3D models. Kaz said that they tweaked the physics engine and accumulated car data to the point that you input the numbers they derived for any given car and tire, and the car seems to follow the physics of the real world vehicle very closely.

And once again, thanks for the in-person impressions, JDM. Great reading as always.

So like I said I went back to Game Stop today to play some more GT5 Demo.

Thanks for the write up, the way you describe it sounds like the way I will feel it. To this day even popping in GT5P I still get this feeling you are describing. Nothing comes close to GT and nothing ever will IMO.

You better quit practicing or you will be 1 up on us. :)

Yes we will have same physics for both type of car!!! And that is MOST important in simulation game, don't you agree?? :)

Just took some basic pictures today of me playing, so you guys know I'm playing this demo and not making things up. Tomorrow I will finally have my camera, I will try to get all cars and tracks tomorrow for you guys 👍

Can you tell the difference between the two picture of the AuTech GTR besides the blurriness

Today I raced the Nascar hard. I cant believe how fun It was. The car has serious power and the motor sounds great. During In cockpit mode mode you can hear the transmission however the motor roar still out powers it. When you get the Nascar in its high rpms it screams guys! The handling is kinda tricky. I say this because I only drove it on road tracks no oval. When making left turns the car felt good, it was when I turned right it felt very tight and stiff. I also notice that the Nascar was the noisy car in Interior view. Cars such as the Enzo are loud in 3rd person view, but in cockpit view you can defiantly hear the sound is muffled by the interior. In replay mode the Nascar sounded wonderful. In the End I cant wait to drive these Nascar in GT5, Its going to be real fun.

Night Racing In GT5 is a great experience. Yes its dark, but it is like this in reality IMO. What night racing did for me and probably will do the same for you guys is heighten your driving senses. You really have to pay attention to your surroundings for efficient driving. Because you have to concentrate so hard this will give you guys another appreciation for GT5. I'm so glad night racing is in GT5. It makes that track you race during sun up a completely different track when the moon is in the sky.

Today while playing GT5 demo I did some races against the AI, I think for the first time it felt like they where humans. I was so locked in trying to keep my line so I can climb up the grid, because if you messed up those other cars would pull on you. What really shocked me was how great the grass debris, dirt, ans spark effect was. When I 1st saw sparks on you tube I did not like them. I was like how can Kaz put that in the game. Driving in the cockpit view and bumper cam those effect look amazing. It looks like they are 3D, no Lie the sparks actually jump off everything. It hits the ground barriers and cars, the debris from the grass actually fly at your screen I was like  The dirt and smoke effect are so damn good. My only problem with them is that they disappear a little faster than I would. I understand it takes up more processing power for the PS3 so its all good still looks amazing.

My racing experience with the Autech GTR against AI: So I picked the Ring to race on with all the other Super GT race cars. Right away i could see how serious the AI was however It did not look like the normal AI i'm use to in Prologue They where constantly battling me for position but also respecting my car. Again I was so amazed how the effect of the debris was, when they AI kicked up dirt and grass some of it flew at my cockpit windshield. So besides the bumpy surface tree shadows and shaky cockpit the debris can mess up your vision while driving on the track. My best moment was with the AI was when the Blue GTR was racing me hard for position. i'm not going to front he passed me at a crazy spot on the RING however he caught some grass and spun us both out because i was right behind him. It was really exciting.

This is where he passed me

I know this is the "Standard vs Premium" thread, but right now, I don't care. I'm loving the OT discussion. November, quit taking your time getting here!

Doesn't really bother me since i use Bumper View, but Cockpit view is one of those views thats gonna be awesome on premium cars just cause of the weather affects, besides that i have no problem using Bumper Cam with standard vehichles... I just want it the game to drop already..

Here you go Slip this is that trailer with the standard cars I was talking about.

Sorry Slip I messed up. What messed me up is they have the advertisment next to the TV that says GT5 so I thought maybe it was a Standard car clip, Do you think the standards are going to look like that? If so that not bad at all.

Is that horn actually in the game? If it is, that sure is a nice touch to GT5! :)

Yes all you have to do is click in the L3 button. 👍 Just figured it out today. I want to go back and try all the car horns and see If they sound different.

So what its a demo we already saw skid marks. The skid marks are not in this build. Why the sad face they are in the game. 👍
Ah, well good then. Didn't realize the demo was that old. I knew we saw them in some clips, but then I didn't see them in this one.

Ah, don't worry about the PSP video JDM; I thought that might be the case, but since I hadn't seen it, I didn't know until now. Thanks for your dedication 👍

The Enzo vid is encouraging. The low-speed physics still look off for maybe a half second or so when you're launching from a standing start with some revs on the board, but once it transitions into real, proper donuts, it's so nice to see that part of the game is working. And thanks for reminding me I've always thought Ferrari's horns don't really match up with their cars ;).

No prob Slip I went back to the GS and got all the car horns I will post them up later they all sound different PD is serious. I agree with you on the Horn though.

Told you so. ;)
Standard cars should look like that, although the video has a bit too much anti aliasing.

Thanks for the Enzo video, too bad the demo doesn't have damage and skidmarks in the replays, hope it will be different in the final version.

Even though cockpits won't be on all cars, I think I'll be okay. But still, over 900 playable vehicles, that's still awesome. And, I'll probably be using the hood or roof cam for the standards anyway. Besides, some other racing games haven't had cockpits before.

I can only damage the Nascar and GT 500 machine I got you tomorrow 👍

Here are some horn sound from GT5 demo

That is not me laughing IN the Audi video

Proper skidmarks here - Gamescom build

Off topic from what you guys were talking about i just noticed something - A few people have asked what will happen with the Top Gear track when cars cross over at the overlapping part of the track.

My guess was that the car who was half a lap down would "ghost" to avoid an accident but this wasn't the case shown here.....

Edit- Im not an expert on the TG test track but maybe the racing lines don't quite overlap eachother? I can see cones so it must be seperated.

If you have a figure 8 track without an overpass, the cars have to cross each other.

Without the car ghosting, I can't see any "real" races happening on that track, in career mode anyways.

Haha of course, what was i thinking....... :dopey:

Yea i guess the track will be more popular for time trials like it is in real life

time trials mainly, but there could also be a 1v1 "lose the other guy" style race on it, like when Clarkson etc is racing the Stig in the review car
