Don't forget that for some people - myself included - we drive merely to use photomode. For us, the premium cars are a big enticement, whilst the standards mean we'll have lesser quality cars that affects our output. In that regard, graphics are important.

I'm quite dissapointed with the STD cars, most look completely untouched from GT4. Im a huge fan/owner of Subaru Legacy's and im really dissapointed with the lack of the addition of at LEAST one Legacy in premium guise. The best i get is an '03 GT which is so badly textured i want to spew.

The Legacy is the flagship for Subaru and where the boxer 4 turbo started. I would have thought at least they would have included the facelifted MY07 GT wagon/sedan as premium and also the '96 GT-B wagon. If you look at Nissan, they get all their heavy hitters in premium. Not even a premium GC8 WRX for Subaru! VW get 2 Nazi cars and a splitty Kombi in premium even!

Alot of us buy these games so we can have our own cars/dream cars in a world where we can race them and modify them at our will.

I truly am appreciative of the efforts Kaz and PD went to to make the game for us, but some things have really left me scratching my head. I understand the lack of resources and time available in making all cars premium, and they have done a fantastic job of the premiums, but i swear some of the damn fences and trees got more polygons than the std cars!

Most Standards that in real life have automatic gearboxes, in GT5 still behave like if they have manual ones :( 👎

I hoped they'd fix this problem.

Same here. My guess is PD figured it was either too complicated to model the slushboxes or concluded it would strongly discourage people from racing certain cars.

Apart from cockpit view I don't care about standards now, infact sometimes in motion you forget cars like the veyron are standards at all. Some are worse than others but I suppose some are more loved than others.

I really like standard, because there are many of them, the preimums arent that intresting to me. Really in not so fond of ferraris, lambos and those supercars. I perfer streetcars from the 90:s, and unfortiunatly most of those cars are standards.

They somewhat correctly modeled CVT and slushbox response for some of the Premiums, though (although they can't really work in "drive" mode in GT5, something I would have liked to see, and that was implemented in Enthusia for PS2).

This makes me think that Standard cars have really been a quick cut&paste job. I wonder if the Volvo 740GL with blatantly incorrect specifications in GT4 has remained that way.

No, I mean 300 - 400 premiums, and an equal number of standard AI variants that would only be seen during races since apparently the PS3 can't handle 16 premium cars on track at once.

The Premium AI cars obviously use level of detail. The game is just badly optimised.

800+ cars that look ,more or less like crap, no rim changing, no paint...come on guys? Many of the cars are from GT2...that game must be at least 12-14 years old...no wonder many of the cars look like crap/****!!! I must repeat myself...GT5 is the biggest scandal/ripp-off in modern day gaming history..that is what i mean about the whole thing. I must add...the premium cars look beautyfull...but...quote;" 1033 beatyfull rendered cars, 200 are premium with lights and wipers", it should have said..."1033 cars, 800+ looks ****, 200 is premium"...maybe this is why i`m not in the marketing business :)

Thanks to the variety, I think I could have lived with GT2 cars being ported over, in GT4 quality. Lots of cool cars in that game that disappeared after then.

So we all did pay xx euros/pounds/dollars/kroner for 12-14 year old grapichs? And the most of us think that is ok? Jepp...thats it for me...i bought GT5 2 days ago...now it is in the garbage bin. Vaya con dios....

you know everyone is bitching about the standard cars but when i am racing they look just fine! i am loving the game 👍

I agree 100%. Personally, I think people are being overly dramatic about the standard cars. Sure, they aren't as good looking as the premiums, but honestly, really don't notice them while racing, and even looking at them they don't look that bad. I'd rather them be in the game just as they are, rather than being left out. Just my personal opinion.

Just give us the option to change the wheels on the standard cars, and that should be good enough imo..

Alot of online races, guys always use the same typical car, Im planing to mix it up by taking an oddball car out there, just wish i could put some cool wheels on it so it looks like it has 300hp instead of 100hp lol

...and nothing in GT5 looks like that.

The game does not have 12 - 14 year old graphics and you have been told (make a note of that told not asked) to post in a constructive manner.

Now you have one more chance to do so or you will be taking a holiday from here. Your posts are no more than flame-bait, clearly designed to start arguments, that kind of attitude is not welcome here and will not be tolerated.

Thats all I want. 👍 Racing the standards are just as fun as the premiums and
thats what count, but changing the wheels will make me use them a lot more.

I would honestly have no problem with the Standards (outside of the ones with incorrect performance, and how much they all cost) if the Photomode restrictions were lifted and you could change the rims.

I still don't get the big deal over not being able to change wheels on Standards. I was looking forward to Race Modding them. Missing that is rather tenderizing, but after that, not being able to swap "rimz" to me is kind of like not being able to use the cigarette lighter to run my iPod. I know that high performance wheels do have an effect on performance, but I haven't found a racing game in which, when you could swap them, the difference was substantial. Mostly it's that last cherry on top in looks and style.

I'll complain MUCH more about the frankly weird to outright terrible music list SONY stuck us westerners with. We evidently don't even get the incredible menu music from Prologue. I've been letting the game idle a lot, and the music so far is almost completely disposable.

And by the way, I love the Standards. Big surprise there, I'm sure. ;D

I'm pretty sure its a bogus account for only bad behavior(username)........ I think you knew that. Should be permanent......

Are you implying that swapping rims is for ricers, or something similar?

Just a question of mine.

Seeing as I primarily play from chase-view, and I am
always staring at the track, the standards dont bother me.
Some of them look great, some not as good, but thats only when you really stop and
look. Im personally happy with the standards. Wheel changing would be nice
though.

standard cars are still butt ugly. I was racin' along and pulled behind a GS300. the taillights and window profiles? YUCK!

Well those are two "patchable" things with standards. Hopeully they will get an update. Some cars need to be deleted like the Crossfire and the 300C. They are both unacceptable no mater how you look at them.

I dont have a problem with the way it is now.. Perhaps it would have been better if they didn't waste (imho) all that time on photo mode details, and work more on game related content.

If anything they have completely different teams working on different parts of the game. They may have had too much time to work on the photo parts.....

No, I'm having some fun with the people who have forgotten that these things used to be called "wheelz." ;)

I've had a lot of trouble getting into this game. I sprained my back, and it made everything an ordeal. Took two days to get around to backing up the PS3 fatty, and then all the folk mentioning that GT5 was clobbering early PS3s made me nervous. Plus Thanksgiving and Black Friday sales got in the way. I finally got a Slim and have been having a blast, but I'm way behind the rest of the class. Unfortunately, I can't afford all the Standards I want because GT5 is amazingly stingy just starting off, and the used car lot is ridiculously small. Hopefully the game will open up a lot more with increased levels and stuff.

i dont care much for the std v premium. it means nothing really, everyone can work out what is better. it almost seems an excuse so they didnt have to make every single car in high detail so they made up the "Premium"

also, small things like not been able to change rims on some standard cars is actually a step back...after 6 years of development for the most anticipated racing game - i cant even put custom rims on a civic. LOL.
