Zero Cup: zero tuning (PS4) - STOPPEDPS4

Until our options are less limited, would you guys be OK with racing the GT3s every 3 weeks or so?

Ok by me, its a good car group (if slightly unbalanced!!! LAMBO ;) ), plus there seems more track choices with this car.

I would make a suggestion that we pick a car and stick with it throughout though, Kind of like a mini series.

I would personally stick to the same car for this reason.
And I would suggest not using the Lambo either as it has a clear advantage. There should be enough other cars.

New lobbies:

Japan Cup at Mugello:
Mazda MX5 Cup

Japanese at Nordschleife:
Mazda MX5 ND
Mazda RX-7 Spirit R
Nissan 370Z Nismo
Nissan Skyline GTR R34 V-Spec
Toyota AE86
Toyota Supra MKIV
Toyota AE86 Tuned
Toyota Supra MKIV Drift

Japanese Race at Silverstone GP:
Toyota Supra MKIV Time Attack
Mazda RX-7 Tuned

The 1st lobby is a must, the 2nd one probably isn't (too much variation between cars) and the 3rd needs a bit of testing but should be nice.

Oh yea.

So I did have a problem with my gas pedal.

After Monday's 'power' issue, tonight the problem evolved the other way: the engine would rev up even though I was not touching the pedal. It started slowly, with at first the tuned RX-7 no longer making its nice exhaust sound when idle. Because it was not idle...

I could 'solve' the problem by pulling the gas pedal up. That ever so slight movement up would disengage the gas. (I actually used Project Cars after a while because it shows how much the pedals are pressed.) After pressing the pedal once, though, the problem was promptly back.

Anyway, long story short, I watched a video on YouTube about dirty potentiometers and how to get to them and while I was thinking "I don't really want to remove the potentiometer" I realised that a bolt holding the potentiometer was a bit loose: the potentiometer would move a bit when pressing the pedal, which would obviously mess up with the reading. I guess on Monday the bolt was a bit tighter than today, hence the difference in symptoms.

The bolt was tightened, all 24 screws were back on and now it looks like everything is back to normal. 👍

I'm still not satisfied with how secure the pedal base is, it's the only problem I have with the GTOmega ART. But this is for another time...

Had a quick look at your GTOmega ART and if l remember you have the pro pedals inverted, can you not use double sided tape to hold it in place? When l get problems with dirty potentiometers and switches l blast them with air and it has always done the trick.

So it looks like only just over half the Zero Cup spa entries have posted there vids, shame, obviously must be a time constraint.

I have replaced my brake potentiometer on my t500 pedals. I used to clean it out but it was a sort term solution. I ordered a new one from thrustmaster, and it was pretty straight forward to install it. Well worth it to do it.

I also have the next level racing stand, you can't invert the pedals, but I do have an issue with how the pedals are mounted. I ended up using wood clamps to keep it locked in position. The clamps keep the pedals from tipping when under max braking pressure. Otherwise I would have needed to drill and tap for more screws.

What are we racing next Monday? The op says Ktm at imola, but I have been invited to a gt3 race...
What should I be practising?

I have actually ordered some double sided tape yesterday! :)

It had nothing to do with dirty potentiometers in the end.

Check the dates of the events, they should be correct. You should have 3 upcoming invitations.

Has anyone put in any practice laps yet?
(In the KTM)

Did Anyone establish if there was a difference in lap times online Vs offline?

Yes there is a difference between online Vs offline, online is always slower maybe around 1 1/2%.

l knew Project Cars had a use for something, that's two now the other being a door stop of course but everyone knows that one.

Could the difference in lap times be the difference between weather conditions and track temp?

l believe that is the case, when off line adjusting time of day, weather and ambient temp has no bearing on asphalt temp which is where the main difference lies between on/off line, grip seems to be higher off line but quite close to on line. Asphalt temp is the key difference which cannot be adjusted.

Hey guys, I'm not going to be able to make it tonight. :grumpy:

I have a birthday meal to attend to, so I cannot imagine that I'll be back early enough to catch the last few racea

Have a good one.

Look forward to seeing the footage at least!

Some good racing today!

I'm in the middle of uploading the first race which is estimated to take about 2 hours to finish  :banghead:

It's my first time trying out how the share factory works, and I gotta say I'm fairly impressed. It's easy to edit, and upload - it just takes a while on my connection speed. I think have just saved myself from having to get a game capture device because the PS4 seems to have it built in!

Anyways, when the first vid is finished uploading I'll add it to this post. I might be able to get another one done tonight but the rest will have to wait for another day to get uploaded.

Race report for race 1 of the zero cup KTM @Imola.

I started in 5th place, I didn't get the greatest start but I didn't loose any positions. At T1 I braked just enough that I was just barely able to avoid collecting the two cars that were in front of me, by the time I got through t3, I was in third place.
I kept her on track and somewhat consistent, so I was able to gain another position when 2nd place got squirrelly. From there it was a straight drive to the finish because I couldn't catch first place who was lapping 1:59s!

Nice oversteer correction.

Race Report: 24 Oct. 2016: KTM X-Bow R at Imola

Race 1:

I was quite proud of this race because although I was not being very quick, I managed to stay out of trouble for most of the 5 laps.

Race 2:
The first lap of this race was quite enjoyable, I overtook a lot of cars, finishing with a nice enough move on Madcat... who got his revenge in lap 2! :P

Race 3:
No video as I missed it. I was rebooting my PS4...

Race 4:
Not much to say there. I was last and lonely for most of the race...

Race 5:
Eventful first lap!
Not sure what happened beginning of lap 2, apart from the fact I quickly ended up making a mistake, but I was in front of the other 3 after one corner so that's ok...
At the hairpin in lap 5, Carlos, I believe I wasn't responsible for your spin after hitting me as I left plenty of room on the inside. How did it look on your side?

Race 6:
Somehow I gradually found an incredible amount of pace and confidence during this race, to finish off with an incredible (for me) 2:01.439.
I'm not sure where that came from.

Race 7:
That's when it went downhill.
Great start but abysmal rest of the race, starting with an overcautious first corner, which was just the first of my problems.
I completely missed the chicane in lap 1, went over the grass in the most difficult braking zone of the track in lap 2, creating an embarrassing mayhem, couldn't avoid Bonio in lap 3 and finally wasted a relatively quick last lap in the last couple of corners.

Race 8:
...and even more downhill. Another good start followed by a laughable first lap (thanks for the GYF!) and almost as bad 2nd lap.
I just about saved a bit of honour with the last lap, my 2nd best time of the evening: 2:02.542.

I know that I was comparatively much slower than most of you but I still managed to enjoy the evening. I'm pretty sure this combination will come back.

Thanks everyone for accepting to race with me.

WarriusZero Nice lap in race 6!, why don't you drive like that all the time?

What FOV do you have because although dash cam is susposed to fixed it can't be as you have a wider view than me?
