Class-based hopper races are a fan favorite in the Forza community. Turn 10 heard the calls and is now expanding the list of these multiplayer events.
To kick off April, Turn 10 started rotating Hopper events to change things up a bit. It retired the old events in favor of some exciting new ones. For the most part, players liked this change. However, this left some classes out of the list.
To remedy this a new series of “evergreen” Hoppers is on the way.
This refreshed events list will now include a race from every class (E through X). The Hoppers will also include playground games like drag and drift events. If that wasn’t enough, players will also have a list of Forza games like Tag and Keep the It.
Turn 10 does note that these new Hopper races will replace the current Breakout events.
There are a few restrictions with the new class Hoppers too — primarily with the vehicle list. According to Turn 10, SUVs, crossovers, and most open-wheel racers are off limits.
This does seem a bit strange given the Forza 7 DLC strategy. Since the first car pack in November, there’s been a steady stream of SUVs and crossovers added to the game. No word if the Honda Odyssey from April’s K1 Speed pack is off limits or not though.
On the plus side, it’s a tacit admission that the controversial Homologation system is not everybody’s cup of tea. While Homologation-based hoppers will continue, in regular online and Leagues, the permanent availability of the traditional class-based system is sure to appeal to franchise fans.
