The latest series has only just begun in Forza Horizon 5, but Playground Games is teasing what’s coming up next month already — and for good reason.
October 2022 will mark ten years since the debut of Forza Horizon, with the first, Colorado-set title launching on October 23, 2012. Forza Horizon 5 will thus celebrate the occasion in entirely appropriate style.
Across the four-week series, which will start on Thursday October 11, players will be able to relive the spirit of the old titles within FH5’s Mexican landscape. As there’s four weeks in each series and four previous games, we anticipate each season will focus on a single title.
There’ll be a new Horizon Story for players to work through, which will naturally focus on the history of Forza Horizon and its origins as a spinoff of the Forza Motorsport series.
Features from previous titles will return too, including Midnight Battles. This mode from FH3 — and itself reminiscent of FH1’s Star Showdowns — pitted players against AI rivals in a one-on-one street race with the NPC’s unique custom car on offer as a reward.
Even the music will be a punch in the nostalgia glands, as the update will add a new radio station containing fan favorite tracks from previous titles.
The “10-Year Anniversary update” will arrive on Tuesday October 11, and Playground Games will share more details in a Forza Monthly or Let’s Go stream shortly before the update lands. For now, you can enjoy this teaser video, and we’re likely to learn more over the coming four weeks.
