With the current series of events winding down, Forza Horizon 4 players still have plenty to look forward to. The next round of seasons are right around the corner, which of course means a new update lurks. Sure enough, Playground Games has detailed what’s in store for the game’s next major update.
Series 12 arrives this week, and with it comes two brand-new Aston Martin cars and a brand-new LEGO barn find. Let’s take a closer look at what players can expect from the upcoming series of events.
New Reward Cars
As with all series updates, new cars lead the charge. Once things are underway, players will have four new vehicles to chase after over the duration of the month. Those vehicles are as follows:
- 2017 Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Coupé
- 2019 Aston Martin DBS Superleggera
- 1967 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia
- 1967 Volkswagen Type 3 1600 L
Without question, the cars from the Gaydon-based manufacturer are the star attractions. First up, the Zagato Coupé — which we recently saw leaked — packs a 6.0-liter V12 that sends 580 horsepower to the rear wheels. It sprints to 60mph in 3.5 seconds, meaning you can tour the Horizon festival with class.
If that weren’t enough, there’s the DBS Superleggera. Like its sibling, it also sports a V12 under the hood, but in the form of a 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged engine. The DBS makes do with 715 horsepower and will sprint to 60mph one-tenth of a second faster, and will charge on to a supercar-like top speed of 211mph.
With the addition of both hyper Astons, there’s hope yet we’ll eventually see the Valkyrie that was leaked late last year.
The pair of Volkswagen cars, arriving from FM7, gives the update a nice classic twist, playing well with the theme of racing through the decades. Both powered by a flat-four engine with less than 70 horsepower driving the rear wheels, they’re the polar opposites of the Aston Martins.
LEGO Barn Find
When the LEGO Speed Champions expansion released this past June, players were quick to hit a wall with the discovered barn find. Once the update goes live, players will finally be able to restore the car and take it for a spin.
As the image above reveals, the car in question is the 1974 Porsche 911 Turbo 3.0 from the Speed Champions set. For those that haven’t completed the expansion yet, you’ll need to be a Master Builder and unlocked the barn find before the 911 Turbo can be yours.
Quality of Life Fixes, Future Updates, Star Card Reward Car
Since introducing the Star Card, Playground has continued to improve its appeal. While finishing individual cards can reward rare rewards, finishing all of the challenges will now reward the Ford Capri Forza Edition. It’s something to work toward for those looking to finally get their hands on this otherwise ultra rare piece of metal.
A fix for joining multiplayer events also arrives with the update. The glitch would keep punting players out of newly-joined multiplayer events, and it wasn’t the sort of issue that showed up in development builds. Playground has found it and states it should no longer be an issue.
The Series 12 update arrives at some point between now and the next seasonal changeover on Thursday.
