Playground Games has given a preview of what’s in store for Forza Horizon 4 starting this week. The next round of seasonal events are nigh, meaning an update is right around the corner. September is looking to be an interesting month for the game, and players will have plenty to look forward to.
Series 13 arrives tomorrow, August 28 and is bringing with it new Porsche cars to toy around with. Let’s take a closer look at what awaits players in the upcoming series.
New Reward Cars
No surprise here, but new cars lead the way for Series 13. Once the new series kicks in, players will have five new vehicles to pursue over the next month. As the thumbnail reveals, there’s an interesting mix of cars from all walks of life. They are as follows:
- 1951 Porsche 356 SL Gmünd Coupé
- 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6
- 1970 Porsche 917 LH
- 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS
- 2018 Italdesign Zerouno
With four brand-new Porsche cars up for grabs, the marque is no doubt the star attraction of the season. First up, the 1951 SL Gmünd Coupé. There’s few cars better suited to the word “legendary” than the 356. The first car used for Porsche’s racing efforts, it won its class at its inaugural race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Power comes from a 1.1-liter flat-four sending 46hp to the rear wheels. While paltry numbers by today’s standards, it was more than enough to clinch class victory at the 24-hour race. It may not be able to keep up with the majority of Horizon 4’s car roster, it can make a statement like none other.
Next up, the 1966 906 Carrera 6. A street legal racing torpedo, it’s a perfect fit to blast around the many twists and turns of Britain. Second only to the Le Mans-winning Ford GT40, the Carrera 6 finished 4th through 7th at the 24-hour event in 1966. With a 2.0-liter flat-six under the hood, it makes do with 210hp going to the rear wheels.
Following that is yet another Le Mans effort from the Stuttgart manufacturer, the 917 LH. The Langheck, or “Long Tail” competed in the 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans and finished second behind its sibling, the 917K.
This particular LH, nicknamed the Psychedelic Porsche or Hippie Car came outfitted with a dark blue body with light green swirls and swoops. With a 4.5-liter flat-12, the 917LH packs a whopping 520hp, making it the most powerful of the Porsches featured in the update.
If the model looks familiar, it should as it leaked earlier this year. It strikes us odd that the LH would debut in FH4 and not Forza Motorsport 7, but we’ll never turn a blind eye to more of Porsche’s racing machines.
Finally, we step into the modern era with final two cars: the 2018 718 Cayman GTS, and Italdesign Zerouno. The former is the first of the 718 family of Porsches to make way in FH4. The latter, while not a Porsche, is the first production car under Italdesign Automobili Speciali.
Blueprint Route Creator Update
Editing your custom routes is about to become a little more flexible. While the update to the feature won’t be live tomorrow, PG briefly went over a very welcomed change that’s coming soon.
Players will soon be able to edit checkpoints on the fly. Prior to this, when looking to edit a route, players would have to start again from scratch. This gives the feature more flexibility by allowing players to edit routes (and checkpoints) from a set position. It’s worth pointing out that the routes can be edited as many times as necessary until it’s saved.
The team at PG are continuing to make improvements and will make way in a future series update.
We’ll have the full breakdown of everything the update includes when it touches down tomorrow.
