The final week of Forza Horizon 5 Series 12 is here, with one final opportunity for players to build up their car collection with rare and exclusive machinery.
Officially known as “Horizon Road Trip“, the S12 playlist is all about long drives. Each week of the series has focused on a different discipline within the world of Horizon, with Road Racing, Cross Country, and Street Racing all the subject of their own dedicated playlist.
With this week being the final run, that makes it Dirt Racing’s turn, and the challenges this week will all be about the rough stuff — at least on marked dirt roads.
There’s been some changes to the playlist too, with longer, five-race challenges and an endurance event each week too. That’s taken players across the various, 10-mile+ final challenges within each race category.
Naturally there’s new cars to collect across the Series, along with an “Evolving World” Accolade for doing so — although with only one week left you’ll need to have picked up most of them by now or resort to paying over-the-odds in the Auction House.
We’ll find out shortly what S13 will bring when it arrives next week, celebrating a decade of Forza Horizon.
Series 12: Horizon Road Trip Rewards
The most dedicated players will already have both of the Series playlist rewards for S12, given that 197 points have been available thus far in the series.
Sitting in the 80-point reward slot is the feature car of this series, the Audi RS e-tron. As well as appearing in the “Road Trip” logo, it’s also the car you’ll use in the Forza EV monthly event across S12.
That should clue you into the fact that the RS e-tron is a fully electric vehicle. It’s very closely related to the Porsche Taycan, using the same platform and dual-motor setup, but sits somewhere in the middle of the range in performance terms.
At 590hp — with a brief overboost to 637hp available — it’s a hair below the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S models, but then it’s also pitched as an executive EV rather than a sports machine.
The higher-tier reward car though is very much a sports machine. McLaren’s 765LT is based on its 720S but, as you can tell from the numbers alone, adds another 45hp to the mix — and the 720S wasn’t exactly what you’d call a slow car.
That “LT” designation stands for “longtail”, one of a rare line of McLarens that started with the F1 GTR as modified for the 1997 FIA GT1 season. Unusually though, the 765LT isn’t that much longer than the 720S, and almost all of the extra two inches is on the nose rather than the tail.
It’s available for 160 points and, as it was only previously available as a Series 6 Playlist reward, it’s well worth picking up if you’ve previously missed out.
Series 12 Spring/Hot Season Rewards
The last of this Series’ exclusive playlist reward cars is on offer this week, in the shape of the Nissan Sentra Nismo.
Available for 20 points, this heated-up version of the Sentra sedan is actually a returning model from FH4, although it was a Car Pass vehicle in that game.
It borrows the 1.6 turbo from the Nismo Juke, although at a slightly more sensible 188hp to make for a good dose less torque-steer from the front-wheel drive four-door.
At 40 points there’s a rather different vehicle on offer, with the Ferrari 512 TR.
Previously available as a playlist exclusive in Series 7, this week represents another chance to collect this iconic vehicle.
The physical similarity to the original Testarossa is obvious, as is the “TR” part of the name (although the less said about the “5” part the better). It’s an evolution of that car, with more power and improvements to both ride and reliability.
Spring will last until 1430UTC on Thursday October 13, bringing Series 12 to a close at the same time. Summer of Series 13 will then replace it.
Series 12 Spring Playlist: Forzathon Events
Although Dirt Racing is the theme for the week, the feature car of the Forzathon Weekly Challenge is more known for its street credentials. The Nissan Pulsar GTI-R is, of course, a Group A rally homologation model, but didn’t exactly set the rally world alight with a best-ever WRC finish of fifth — in its first event.
Nonetheless, pick up the car (you can earn it in this week’s Blaze a Trail championship) and drive it to get On The Run underway. You’ll then need to win a Street Racing event to complete the second stage, before heading to the off-road environment to win a Dirt Racing event.
Finally — and after some tweaking — spool the GTI-R up to 200mph to complete the challenge and earn five points and 160FP.
Weekly Challenge: On The Run
- Car: Nissan Pulsar GTI-R 1990
- Chapter 1: Own and drive the Nissan Pulsar GTI-R 1990
- Chapter 2: Win a Street Race in the Nissan Pulsar GTI-R 1990
- Chapter 3: Win a Dirt Race in the Nissan Pulsar GTI-R 1990
- Chapter 4: Achieve a speed of 200mph in the Nissan Pulsar GTI-R 1990
- Reward: 5 points, 160FP
The seven Daily Challenges, as the name suggests, arrive at the rate of one a day across the season, with seven days to complete each for one point and 20FP apiece.
That starts with a very familiar event if you’ve been playing across the month. Just visit the Horizon Wilds Outpost to complete The Road Less Traveled. There’s a mild irony to the name as you’ll be there a lot this week, so don’t make a special effort — it’ll come naturally.
You will need to make a special effort for You Are My Sunshine though. This requires a ten-mile drive in the VW Type 2 De Luxe.
The weekend starts with a small shopping spree. Buy any new car from the Autoshow to complete New Car Who Dis.
Show ‘Em Who’s Boss on Sunday by winning any Dirt Racing Series race in the 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302.
You’ll need to be Unstoppable on Monday, by earning a Wrecking Ball Skill combo in any Vans & Utility vehicle. This combo comes up if you earn three Wreckage skills — for smashing smashable objects — during a single chain of skills. However Wreckage skills don’t always register if done in quick succession so get speeding and drifting in addition to smashing, to create a gap between them.
Eat My Dust requires you to win the Baja California Trail event — a Dirt Racing event located between Dunas Blancas and the western slopes of the volcano — in any Classic Rally car.
You’ll close out the Series with your Foot to the Floor, by earning nine stars (or speeds equivalent to nine stars) through any Speed Zones in any Rally Monster.

Series 12 Spring Playlist: Season Events
The single-player playlist mix is 50:50 this week, with three Seasonal Championships — all on Dirt courses, naturally — and three PR Stunts.
As with every PR Stunt across the Series, all three possible with the same car, as the only restriction for all nine has been an S2 Class (901-998PI) car of any type.
This week’s Stunts are the Stadium Jump Danger Sign, to the north of the stadium, and the Ranchito Speed Zone and Rancheria Drift Zone in Mulege. All give two points and a Super Wheelspin for completion.
You’ll need quite the leap for the Danger Sign, passing well beyond three stars for a 426m leap. The Drift Zone is also considerably over the three-star target, at 98,500pt. However the 100mph goal for the Speed Zone should be more comfortable, but we’d advise good brakes and offroad ability.
Each of the three Seasonal Championships is worth the usual five points, although there’s a five-race, a three-race, and a once-race event. All see you facing Highly Skilled AI which, most importantly, sees you perpetually start in 8th.
Blaze a Trail is the regular three-race event, with D Class (≤500PI) Classic Rally cars required and the Nissan Pulsar GTI-R needed for the Weekly Challenge as a prize.
Dirt Endurance is the five-race series — unfortunately not best-of-five, so you will need to run all five races. This permits B Class (601-700PI) Modern Rally cars, and offers a 2005 Subaru Impreza WRC for overall victory.
That leaves the giant The Gauntlet course for its solo event. You’ll need an S1 Class (801-900PI) Rally Monsters car for the race, and there’s a 1977 Ford Escort Rally Car for first place.
Finally there’s an EventLab this week, Rally Trail, which consists of an unusual and compact course through the stadium. A Class (701-800PI) Rally Monsters are required, but we’d advise handling over speed as it’s tight in places and more like driving through a garden center. Complete the course — and don’t over-egg the jumps until 78% distance — to earn three points and a Black Modern Puebla Dress.

- Location: Pantano de la Selva, The Gauntlet
- Challenge: Win the Championship
- Reward: 5 points, Ford Escort 1977
There’s seven more points on offer if you have the Hot Wheels DLC. These are additional rather than required for 100%, so don’t feel FOMO if you’re a playlist completionist.
It’s another S2 Class (901-998PI) free-for-all for the PR Stunt this week, which is the Forest Escape Danger Sign. The 365m target isn’t an incredible challenge, and there’s two points and a Super Wheelspin for achieving it.
For five points there’s the final orange-themed Seasonal Championship, Hit the Orange Trail. It’s a three-race series against Highly Skilled AI, using any A Class (701-800PI) Rally Monsters. Take the win over the various hazard track sections to also earn a 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX.
Hot Wheels Danger Sign: Forest Escape
- Car: S2 Class
- Location: Hot Wheels Park Forest Falls, Forest Escape Danger Sign
- Challenge: 365m
- Reward: 2 points, Super Wheelspin
Hot Wheels Seasonal Championship: Hit the Orange Trail

- Location: Hot Wheels Park Ice Cauldron, Lava Loop Hazard Sprint
- Challenge: Win the Championship
- Reward: 5 points, Subaru WRX 2011
Once again there’s two multiplayer events this week, for which you’ll need Xbox Live Gold or to play on a PC to access both.
There’s another one-type Seasonal Playground Games event, consisting of three rounds of Team Flag Rush. When attacking you’ll need to grab a flag from your base and take it to the enemy base without an opponent car touching you, and when defending you’ll need to tag opponent cars carrying a flag to steal it.
You’ll need any B Class (601-700PI) Hot Hatch car for the event. Winning isn’t necessary, so just complete the three rounds (or two if one team wins quickly) to earn three points and a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 for this week’s Photo Challenge.
The Trial is in its regular spot, and while the idea of a Dirt Racing event might fill you with dread due to uncontrolled team mates, the relatively low performance bracket of B Class (601-700PI) Offroad cars this week should help.
It’s a best-of-three-race team series, consisting of a red team of six “Unbeatable” AI drivatars and up to six humans on the blue team. Each driver earns 100 points for every opponent driver they finish ahead of but you gain nothing for finishing ahead of team-mates, other than a tie-breaking 50pt for whoever wins the race.
That means you need to stay out of your team-mates’ way but very much stay in the AI’s way to help other team-mates pass. Sprinting off into the distance is no good to the team, although there’s always one who has to win at all costs.
Working together for the win will earn ten points and a Porsche 911 Desert Flyer.
Seasonal Playground Games: Flag Rush
- Car: B Class, Hot Hatch
- Location: Ek’Balam
- Challenge: Finish the event
- Reward: 3 points, Mitsubishi Lancer GSR 1999
The Trial: Off the Beaten Track
- Car: D-B Class, Offroad
- Location: Gran Puente, River Scramble
- Challenge: Win the Championship
- Reward: 10 points, Porsche 911 Desert Flyer
Series 12 Spring Playlist: Challenges
It’s another three-challenges week, with a Treasure Hunt and the Photo Challenge joined by The Eliminator again.
You’ll need multiplayer access — Xbox Live Gold, or playing on a PC — for The Eliminator, but it’s the regular, relatively easy test. Just finish in the top 30, which is often only a matter of surviving for two minutes, to take two points and a “This Isn’t Even My Final Form” Forza LINK greeting.
This week’s Photo Challenge, #RunningWild, will seem familiar as you’ll need to snap the relevant outpost for the week’s activities. Take a shot of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI at Horizon Wilds to earn two points and a Police Siren horn. Yes, that really annoying one.
Finally there’s the Treasure Hunt, Rally on the Wild Side. The clue states “Victory awaits whoever can brave the Dirt with a rallying cry of nostalgia”. That, and the thumbnail image, should give you the idea you’ll need to win a Dirt Racing Series event in a Retro Rally car.
Complete that and you’ll receive the treasure hint: a red circle on your map showing roughly where the chest is located. As you could probably guess given the last three events, that’s in plain sight near the Horizon Wilds Outpost — by the westernmost entrance. Smash it to take three points and 100FP as a prize.
Photo Challenge: #RunningWild
- Cars: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR 1999
- Location: Horizon Wilds Outpost
- Challenge: Photograph the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR 1999 at the Horizon Wilds Outpost
- Reward: 2 points, Police Siren Horn
Treasure Hunt: Rally on the Wild Side
- Cars: Retro Rally
- Location: Any Dirt Racing Series event
- Challenge: Win any Dirt Racing event in any Retro Rally car, find and smash the Treasure Chest
- Reward: 3 points, 100FP
The Eliminator: Battle Royale
- Cars: Provided
- Location: Valle de las Ranas, The Eliminator
- Challenge: Finish 30th or better in The Eliminator
- Reward: 2 points, “This Isn’t Even My Final Form” Forza LINK
With the final week of the Series comes a final chance to pick up points from the two Rivals events this month. These hot-lap challenges, both using the new Audi models introduced in the most recent update, require you to run a clean lap of a specified course in a vehicle provided for the task.
That means ultimate speed isn’t necessary. Just keep the car away from any hard objects and you’ll get the points. Each event offers four points, with one added to each week of the Series, including past seasons.
Forza EV puts you into the new Audi RS e-tron GT, for a lap of the Emerald Circuit, while the Monthly Rivals event sees you driving the Audi RS7 around the compact figure-eight Bolo Ocho circuit in Guanajuato.
Forza EV: Emerald Circuit
- Cars: Audi RS e-tron GT (provided)
- Location: Palacio Azul del Oceano, Emerald Circuit
- Challenge: Post a Clean Lap
- Reward: 4 points (1 added to each season)
Monthly Rivals: Bolo Ocho Circuit
- Cars: Audi RS7 (Provided)
- Location: Guanajuato, Bolo Ocho Circuit
- Challenge: Post a Clean Lap
- Reward: 4 points (1 added to each season)
Series 12 Spring Forzathon Shop
Speed on two surfaces is on offer in the Forzathon Shop this week, with the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento and the Hoonigan Escort Cosworth.
Lamborghini went all-out in tweaking the Gallardo for the track when it created the Sesto Elemento. The name itself refers to the sheer quantity of the “sixth element” of the Periodic Table — carbon — in the car’s construction.
It’s the first vehicle using forged carbon, developed in conjunction with Callaway — the golf club manufacturer, not the car brand — resulting in a curb weight below a metric tonne. That means that despite not having any more power than the 562hp on offer from the 5.2-liter V10, it’s a considerably quicker car.
At 2.5 million in the Autoshow, it’s a toss-up whether the 600FP is worth the outlay, but it’s a reasonable price.
The Hoonigan Cosworth meanwhile is a heavily tuned Ford Escort Cosworth, and star of Ken Block’s Gymkhana 10 video. At 400FP it’s somewhat expensive compared to its 500,000cr Autoshow price.
Store items this week are the Star27 Ankle Socks and the Gong Horn at 75FP each. The Wheelspin (60FP) and Super Wheelspin (150FP) remain in their usual spots.
