Series 21 of Forza Horizon 5 rolls into its second week this week, as Autumn arrives in Mexico.
The new series is themed around exploration, with the official name of “Explore the Horizon”. That brings with it a number of unique challenges which you’ll find on the Playlist this month.
First of those is the Pathfinder, a new type of event similar to Trailblazers but more about a gentle exploration of the countryside than finding the fastest way from point A to point B.
These events underpin the Treasure Hunt this series too, bringing an interesting twist to the format — along with Evolving World Accolades.
There’s also more wildlife, and they form the basis of both the Photo Challenges and Collectibles this series. You’ll need to track and photograph the beasts in the wild, and also smash some googly-eyed cardboard replicas.
Six new cars come up on the Playlist this month, and you’ll only need to play the game during the four weeks to earn two of them. The others, all pickups, come as 20-point rewards each season, and there’s an Evolving World Accolade for scoring all four.
These vehicles are also among the 16 that will come with new “Overlanding” modifications, to create the most rugged form of camper van imaginable as you trek across the landscape and sleep beneath the stars.
Series 21: Explore the Horizon
With the brand-new cars distributed for 20 points in each Season, the overall Series prizes aren’t new to the game but aren’t machines you can pick up through simply buying them. If you’ve previously missed them on the playlist, this is another chance to score some rare vehicles.
For 80 points, which you’ll cross during this week if you’re a 100%er, you’ll earn the dinky Wuling Sunshine MPV.
Although not a common name outside of its domestic market in China (where the Sunshine is a sliding-door model, rather than the Hongguang in FH5) the little Wuling is actually one of the most popular cars in the world thanks to being one of the most popular cars among China’s 1.4-billion people.
Available in China as an EV too, the car in FH5 is a regular 1.5-liter petrol car, sporting 84hp. However it has some pretty feisty mods in the game and can go a lot faster.
For 160 points you’ll pick up the latest version of the Audi RS7.
Previously part of Series 12, the RS7 is Audi’s line-leading sports coupe. It packs a four-liter V8 which has two turbochargers attached to develop 592hp. That’s allied to Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system, so it’s a monster whatever the weather.
Series 21 Autumn/Storm Season Rewards
Another of the new trucks for the Series is available as the 20-point reward this week, with the Ford F-150 XLT Lariat ’86 on offer.
Top of the line in its day, the XLT Lariat trim put a rather plush interior onto this workhorse truck, which sported a relatively lazy, 188hp 302 V8 under the bullnose front.
That probably means a relaxed trek across the Mexican landscape compared to the myriad more modern pickups available, but this F-150 is one of the cars which has the new Overlanding modifications on offer if you feel like making it into a all-terrain home from home.
Also available this week, for 40 points, is one of the game’s Extreme E vehicles.
These cars are identical underneath, consisting of a Spark Odyssey SUV which features a strong niobium-steel space frame, a flax-composite body, and a pair of 200kW electric motors.
However only one of the cars is available to buy in the Autoshow, and this week’s offering is one of those you can’t buy: the Lewis Hamilton-owned Team X44 car.
The Autumn Season will run through to 1430UTC on Thursday June 8, with Series 21 continuing for two more weeks until the same time on Thursday June 22.
Series 21 Autumn Playlist: Forzathon Events
There’s another off-road specialist in the Forzathon Weekly challenge, with the RAM 2500 Power Wagon the star. Own and drive it to get the event started.
You’ll need to win a Dirt Race in the Ram first, before smashing through everything you can find to earn a Wrecking Ball Skill. This is a combo skill requiring you to pick up at least three different Wreckage Skills — for smashing a breakable item — in the same Skill chain.
Finally hit up any Trailblazers and score a total of three Stars to complete the event, earning five Playlist points and 80 Forzathon Points — the latter of which is doubled if you own the La Casa Solariega player house.
Weekly Challenge: No Compromise
- Car: RAM 2500 Power Wagon ’17
- Chapter 1: Own and drive the RAM 2500 ’17

The seven new Daily challenges will each unlock, one per day, at 1430UTC with seven days to complete each — rolling over into next season where necessary.
First up take a photo of your car at night; you can use the new photo mode controls to force this if you fancy being a Time Lord, or just wait for night time.
There’s Big Tyres and Big Air next as you’ll earn a total of three stars from any Danger Signs in any Offroad category car.
Have some Prickly Good Fun by smashing through 12 cactuses, starting on Saturday.
You’ll be Showing Off next by completing any of the four Showcase events.
Control The Spice on Monday, by earning an Ultimate Air Skill in the Dunas Blancas region. Just hit some big jumps on the dunes to get all four (or three, or six) wheels off the floor and land safely to score this.
Find the flamingos near the Cascadas de Agua Azul waterfalls — you can’t really miss them as they’re right by the falls — to complete Flock of Pink. There’s a Collectibles challenge here this week too, if you want to double-up.
Finally there’s a Splash Bang Wallop when you complete any Cross Country event in Horizon Open Custom Racing; beware that you’ll need access to online multiplayer for this.

Series 21 Autumn Playlist: Season Events
There’s another six events on the solo playlist this week, although Horizon Arcade can be completed in multiplayer too, as the requirements scale with the number of participants.
Simply locate any Horizon Arcade zone — marked by a pink circle — and complete all three rounds to earn the three points. You don’t need a specific theme, so whether it’s Air, Chaos, Drift, Speed, or Wreckage you’ll get the points.
This week’s EventLab, By Land, Air, and Sea, is a civil engineer’s nightmare, as the Concrete Fairy has visited Playa Azul. Complete the laps in any A Class (701-800PI) car from any category of offroader to earn three points and a Ford GT70; we’d advise maximum speed on the jump after the elevated “U” section.
Both PR Stunts are the usual all-comers event, requiring any car up to the top of S2 Class (901-998PI), and awarding a Super Wheelspin.
They’re within relatively easy reach this week, with the 180m distance at the temporary Salto de Rio Danger Sign just a matter of a decent run up and a clear landing zone that avoids the buildings, and 160mph at the Dust Bowl Speed Trap a doddle with downforce.
As usual, the two Seasonal Championships consist of three-race events against Highly Skilled AI, and offer five points each alongside their bonus rewards.
Rally Good Time will set you into A Class (701-800PI) Rally Monsters on a Dirt Racing Series event, giving a Maserati Levante for victory. Meanwhile Ready for Lift-Off is a Cross Country event for A Class (701-800PI) Unlimited Offroad cars, with a 1973 Ford Escort as a sweetener.

We have a single multiplayer event again, with The Trial in its regular spot. You’ll need an Xbox Live subscription in order to access the event on console, but PC players will have no such barrier.
If you’re not familiar with the format by now — in its 82nd running — it’s a best-of-three-race championship with up to six human players against six AI Drivatars on Unbeatable difficulty.
Each player on each team only scores points by finishing ahead of rivals, with 100 points for each opponent you beat. Beating your team-mates isn’t relevant — although there is a tie-breaking 50 points for the overall win — so you’ll need to work together to keep each other in the best positions possible.
This week’s challenge, Ooh… Barranca, is another Cross Country event, for C Class (501-600PI) Retro Rally cars. The AI pace on these events can be quite inconsistent, but even so a win inside two races is possible for a well-drilled team.
Victory will earn you ten points for the Playlist and a Bentley Bentayga.
The Trial: Ooh… Barranca
- Car: C Class, Retro Rally
- Location: Copper Canyon
- Challenge: Win the Championship
- Reward: 10 points, Bentley Bentayga
Series 21 Autumn Playlist: Challenges
The Challenges list swells to four events this week, with the new-format Treasure Hunt and Collectibles events running each week across the series, the regular Photo Challenge, and The Eliminator for this week too.
You will need access to online multiplayer for The Eliminator, but it’s the usual challenge of finishing 30th or better — commonly just a matter of surviving a couple of minutes. There’s the regular two points and a BMW X5M for victory.
Flamingo Falls sends you to Cascadas de Agua Azul, and with a relevant Daily Challenge starting on June 5 you might like to save this to the end of the week.
However once you’re at the falls, you’ll need to find and smash ten cardboard flamingo cutouts scattered about the area. They’re quite pale and blend into the dirt track, but the googly eyes should give them away. Get ten and you’ll earn two points and a Farid Rueda Lion Face Mask.
You’ll need to hunt for another camp site in this week’s Photo Challenge, #Bighorn. Although it’s suggested this is north of Mulege, it’s actually well across the highway, about halfway to the Festival site.
Once there, photograph the goats running around nearby — don’t stray too far from the camp site — to complete the challenge, earning two points and an “I’m The Goat” Forza LINK greeting.
Finally there’s the Treasure Hunt, which is keyed into new Evolving World Accolades all series-long and requires you to complete Pathfinder challenges.
These new challenges will send you along a path between two sets of green balloons that mark the start and finish. Red balloons show the path, but you don’t actually need to follow it, and while there’s technically a ten-minute time limit on each it’s not something you need to be concerned with.
You can use any vehicle you like, and you’ll be given the start point for the first Pathfinder on your GPS. However you’re on your own after that, with only hints in the Accolades section as to where the next may start; you’ll find the second start point right by the Pantano de la Selva name on your World Map, with the third between the two Street Race markers south-west of the Stadium.
Complete all three for this week and the Treasure Chest will appear in the finish zone for the last one; smash it to pick up three points and a 250,000cr bonus.

Both of the Forza Monthly challenges this Series are Forza EV events. You can complete them at any time in the Series to earn a total of four points for each, with one point added to each Season regardless of when you complete the event.
You’ll need to set a clean course time in order to get the points, which might be tricky as EVs tend to be quicker than you think and attract barriers in the braking zones.
For Cupra Tavascan Concept you’ll be driving the new Cupra at the compact Emerald Circuit, while the Ek’Balam Cross Country Circuit hosts the hefty Hummer EV for an offroad lap — watch out for the tight turns in the temple near the end.

Series 21 Autumn Bonus DLC Events
Each of the two expansion packs offers a pair of bonus events, with a Seasonal Championship and a PR Stunt in each location. They’re not required for 100% completion, but offer bonus points as a helpind hand.
As with the main map, both PR Stunts require any car up to S2 Class (901-998PI), with a Danger Sign Hot Wheels and a Speed Zone in Rally Adventure. Both offer the same rewards too: two points and a Super Wheelspin.
Both are a little tricky this week though. The 500m distance for the Canyon Fire Danger Sign in Hot Wheels isn’t the issue, it’s the landing zone that might fox you — stick just left of center off the ramp to land on track the other side. Meanwhile the 72mph average at Tierras Verdes Speed Zone in Rally Adventure is on the high side for the loose surface and tight corners.
The Seasonal Championships are also the same as the main map, with five points on offer for each of the three-race events against Highly Skilled AI.
Time Warp in Rally Adventure is a Road Racing/Apex Predators series for B Class (601-700PI) Retro Saloons, offering a Macarena Emote for victory. The Hot Wheels Super Loops event places you into S1 Class Modern Supercars, and there’s a Farid Rueda Bear Cap for taking first overall.

Series 21 Autumn Forzathon Shop
It’s an odd couple in the Shop this week, with a classic British grand tourer and a madcap Trophy Truck on offer.
The former is one of the most famous cars in the world, thanks to its long-term association with a rather well-known — which is surely an oxymoron — British spy.
Aston Martin’s DB5 was the middle-child of three surprisingly similar-looking (and easy to confuse) vehicles, appearing for two years between the much longer-lived DB4 and DB6.
The 2+2 GT car sported a four-liter straight six, good for 325hp and a top speed of 145mph — still pretty good figures compared to today — with Aston Martin building the car’s panels from a lightweight magnesium/aluminum alloy.
You can also pick up the Ford Rockstar F-150 Trophy Truck, built specifically to conquer Mexico in the Baja 1000.
It did that pretty successfully too, with the 850hp truck winning the 2014 race overall by a margin of 29 minutes.
The Aston Martin is a reasonable 450FP, with the F150 at 300FP, against Autoshow pricing at 800,000cr and 500,000cr respectively.
Other store items this week include the Referee Whistle Horn and the Farid Rueda Lion Suit for 75FP each. The Wheelspin (60FP) and a Super Wheelspin (150FP) occupy their regular spots.
