Forza Horizon 5 Season Change: Hidey Hi

The latest Forza Horizon 5 series gets underway today, as the theme shifts to all things hidden.

Series 38 is officially called “Hidden Horizons” and sees the debut of an all-new game mode — which also forms part of the Playlist, at least for this month.

That’s “Hide & Seek”, a 5 vs 1 online multiplayer event which sees one player trying to blend in with traffic cars while five hunt them down until they can reach the escape zone. New Accolades are available in this mode, with Achievements coming next month.

Another new addition this Series is the Horizon Stadium Maze which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like: a high-walled maze built into the stadium. Try not to get lost!

Four new reward cars await for collecting 20pt within each season, and although there’s once again no fifth vehicle as an overall reward you can score a special tie-in Camaro for free through your messages.

Series 38: Hidden Horizons

We’re back up to the 300pt Playlist this month, with 75pt distributed equally across the four seasons. Beware that there’s more of an online multiplayer component than usual, thanks to the addition of the Hide & Seek mode, and the DLC packs comprise their usual 56pt across the Series.

Two Playlist-exclusive Nissans are on offer for overall Series rewards, with the Tsuru at 80 points and the Safari for 160 points.

Series 38 Summer/Wet Season Rewards

The first new reward car of the Series — the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III — is up this week for 20pt across the season. Scoring 40pt will earn you the hard-to-find Hot Wheels Ford Mustang. Note that if you don’t have access to online multiplayer or the DLCs, you’ll need every other point available this week to do that.

Summer will run until 1430UTC on Thursday September 19, with Series 38 running for another three weeks until the same time on Thursday October 10.

Series 38 Summer Playlist: Forzathon Events

You’ll need a Peel Trident for this week’s Forzathon Weekly Challenge. Seven more Daily Challenges — one new event each day at 1430 UTC — are also available for a point each.

Note that you’ll need to wave a tuning stick at the Trident for the second stage of its event, as it requires the car to be at least in the B Class (601-700PI) performance bracket. There’s also a rare Xbox Live Core requirement for the Friday Daily Challenge which sees you head into Hide & Seek.

Series 38 Summer Playlist: Season Events

There’s a pair of multiplayer events in Season Events this week, requiring an Xbox Live Core subscription (unless you play on PC) in order to have access to online multiplayer. Combined they’re worth 18 points.

That’s the permanent fixture of The Trial, this week being another dirt racing event likely short on player control despite the low B Class (601-700PI) requirement for the British cars eligible. Make sure you have a dirt tune or at least offroad tires.

Horizon Tour is similar, with slower AI and the requirement to drive between races. It also comes with no bonus rewards, just the points.

Both PR Stunts require the same car type — an A Class (701-800PI) Mitsubishi — and you’ll need some offroad abilities for each too.

There’s only one EventLab challenge this week, as you head to the Island for a unique, community-created challenge.

The three Seasonal Championships bring a mix of events. You’ve got a Street Racing event for A Class (701-800PI) Jaguar models in 3am Zoomies, a Road Racing challenge for A Class (701-800PI) Barn Finds in Car’s Out the Barn, and the Built Tough offroad series for B Class (601-700PI) Pickups & 4x4s.
