The latest update set for Forza Horizon 5 has been revealed by Playground Games. Titled “Winter Wonderland”, the newest content has been extensively previewed ahead of the corresponding update later this week.
As it’s the season of goodwill, there will be a lot of new cars to unwrap over the next four weeks. Four will be available in the seasonal playlist depending on your progression, plus another five that you’ll need to spend some money on. Although it is a Winter festival, the blazing Mexican sun will ensure fun for all the seasons.
Forza Horizon 5 Series 28 New Free Cars
There are three returnees and one Horizon debut in the Playlist, with that spotlight being put to the 2022 Subaru BRZ. Like its Toyota GR86 twin, the BRZ enters its second generation and features numerous upgrades to correct the flaws of the old car.
The new BRZ is still mechanically identical to the 86, meaning it also gets a 2.4-liter flat four that takes power up to 228hp, while also adding a helpful boost in torque. Its chassis has also been heavily reworked for better handling while maintaining the core of accessible fun.
A pair of extreme roofless Lotuses return from the previous Horizon games. Both the 2000 Lotus 340R and 2009 Lotus 2-Eleven bring the uncompromising thrills of Hethel to the roads of Mexico for wind in the hair motoring.
Something a bit less extreme to return is the 2018 Morgan Aero GT. This limited run convertible is one of the last versions of the Aero 8 to be built and also one of the last to use the fabled BMW V8 engine. At 367hp, the Aero GT won’t be riding quietly into the sunset.
Forza Horizon 5 Series 28 New DLC Car Pack
Fans of the Fast and Furious franchise will be excited for the newest paid add-on. Aptly dubbed the “Fast X” Car Pack, this features four cars from the tenth movie in the anthology as well as a brand new custom machine. The new car pack drops on Tuesday, December 5 and will cost €/$9.99 (£7.99).
The headline car is, without doubt, the 1970 Dodge Charger driven by Dominic Toretto. This classic muscle monster has evolved many times over the course of the Fast franchise, and this latest one continues that tradition, packing over 900hp from that distinctive supercharged V8.
If you want to experience life from the opposite side of the Fast Family, there’s the 1966 Chevrolet Impala SS, driven by Toretto’s arch-nemesis Dante Reyes. This particular Impala is no slouch on the quarter mile with over 1,100hp at your disposal.
Fans of Japanese cars can also climb aboard the 1973 Datsun 240Z driven by Isabel Neves. Under the wide body sits a heavily turbocharged straight-six making 740hp, although you won’t have access to nitrous at the Horizon Festival.
Another of Toretto’s cars to arrive is the 2022 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody. With 1000hp from its supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and a manual gearbox, you can use all that power to demolish your rivals rather than chasing an out of control bomb.
Finally, a unique Flip Car 2.0 joins the fray in this pack. This beast features a six wheel arrangement similar to the Tyrrell P34 Formula 1 car by having four wheels at the front. With a 700hp V8, it will certainly be quick enough to plow through any unsuspecting traffic. The Flip Car also features steering on all three axles for the first time ever, allowing for some insane manouverability.
Forza Horizon 5 Series 28 Other Changes
Secret Santa returns to Horizon for another year, setting players the challenge of gifting as many cars as possible. Kicking off on December 5, players will need to fill the Secret Santa meter in order to unlock a pair of prize cars.
50% completion will give everyone the brand new 2023 Gordon Murray Automotive T.50, crossing over from Forza Motorsport to the Horizon festival. This supercar can be seen as the true successor to the legendary McLaren F1, eschewing complicated hybrid technology for a 12,000rpm V12, a manual gearbox and a sub-2,200lb weight.
Playground did not mention the other prize car for 100% completion, which will be left for the players to discover when they fulfill the Secret Santa requirement.
EventLab will see a host of new props including new racing curbs, starting lights, a checkered finish line, brake markers, and much more.
A new Winter Wonderland Circuit will also become available. You’ll be able to run the new race route from December 5 in Rivals Mode, but will need to wait until December 7 to explore the circuit in the open world.
You need not worry about the new route disappearing forever when the season ends, as it will be permanently available from Series 29, but it will only be accessible during the Winter/Dry season.
Accolade hunters can also grab three new accolades from the Winter Wonderland circuit, with one for completing and one for winning an event, with a third one for setting a clean time in Rivals.
A quartet of classic race cars, returning from previous games, is set to join the Autoshow on December 5 as well, but you’ll need lots and lots of money saved as these will put a massive dent in your wallet;
- 1958 Aston Martin DBR1 – 22,500,000cr
- 1953 Jaguar C-Type – 5,000,000cr
- 1970 Ferrari 512 S – 3,500,000cr
- 1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6 – 2,000,000cr
Those who missed any cars in previous seasons can look forward to a Christmas and New Year sale in the Forzathon Shop. These periods will see two groups of four cars on sale for massive reduced Forzathon Points:
December 24 – December 26
- 200FP – Toyota GR86 2022
- 150FP – Toyota Sports 800 1965
- 100FP – Chevrolet K10 Customized 1977

The festive celebrations will continue in to Series 29, where players can once again enjoy the Lunar New Year with more new cars and collectibles, the return of the stadium drift arena and a dragon drone show.
Series 28 is scheduled to drop on Tuesday, December 5, with the Playlist commencing this coming Thursday, December 7.
