Today marks the start of Forza Horizon 5’s Series 40, officially known as “Horizon Track Day”, bringing a new set of challenges over the next four weeks all clustered around the central theme as the game moves into its fourth year.
With recent changes to the game, and its surrounding activities, it looks like PG is getting ready to throttle back. We’ve seen the new-to-title car count each month dwindle, the introduction of the Horizon Backstage, and the “pause” in the monthly live streams that showcase each update, all of which hint at a shortening future.
Accordingly, we’re changing our coverage a little. Rather than the weekly article covering the Playlist from top to bottom (or rather left to right), we’re going to make a single and more compact reference post at the start of each Series to look at the events in a more general fashion. You can continue to discuss them in the forums as before though.
Without further ado, let’s dig in and see what’s on the books this month:
Forza Horizon 5 Series 40: Horizon Track Day
Series 40 is slightly more compact than previous months, coming in at 280pt in total. That’s split to 70pt each season, so watch out for multiplayer-heavy weeks that limit the points available to you if you don’t have Xbox Live Core. In Summer it’s not possible to hit 40pt without either multiplayer access or one of the DLC packs.
There’s six car rewards for progress in Season and Series completion, although only three are new to the game – for 20pt in Summer, Autumn, and Winter – with the fourth a prize for a specific event late in the Series. Backstage Passes are the second reward in all four seasons.
Forza Horizon 5 Series 40 Rewards
- Series 40 Overall Rewards: Porsche 911 RSR (80pt), Lotus 2-Eleven (160pt)
- Series 40 Summer Rewards: Porsche 911 GT3 RS ’23 (20pt), Horizon Backstage Pass (40pt)
- Series 40 Autumn Rewards: Porsche 911 Rallye ’23 (20pt), Horizon Backstage Pass (40pt)
- Series 40 Winter Rewards: Porsche 911 GT3 R ’23 (20pt), Horizon Backstage Pass (40pt)
- Series 40 Spring Rewards: Porsche 935 #70 (20pt), Horizon Backstage Pass (40pt)
Forza Horizon 5 Series 40: Forzathon Weekly
The four Weekly events all focus on track machines or cars commonly found on circuit, with the original Mazda MX-5 up first, followed by the KTM X-Bow R, the Exige S, and the Atom V8.
For the most part the 28 Daily Challenges — one point each and seven days to complete each one from the day it unlocks — are straighforward and either speed-focused or requiring a trip to the Stadium Oval. There’s a few that require multiplayer access, in order to get into The Eliminator, Horizon Tour, or Horizon Open, but otherwise they should be easy enough to check off.

- Series 40 Summer Forzathon Weekly: Mazda MX-5 ’94
- Series 40 Autumn Forzathon Weekly: KTM X-Bow R ’13
- Series 40 Winter Forzathon Weekly: Lotus Exige S ’12
- Series 40 Spring Forzathon Weekly: Ariel Atom V8 ’13
Forza Horizon 5 Series 40: Multiplayer Events
There’s rather too many events requiring multiplayer in Summer, with The Trial, Seasonal Playground Games, and Horizon Tour totting up to 21 points. Combined with the 14 points across the two DLC packs, that means only 35pt is available to players on the base game without multiplayer access…
Other seasons have fewer points allocated behind this paywall, with The Trial appearing in every week as usual, and one each of Hide & Seek, The Eliminator, and Horizon Open.

Forza Horizon 5 Series 40: Other Events
For the most part the rest of the Playlist is the usual suite of PR Stunts, Seasonal Championships, and Photo Challenges, although there are a couple of curveballs.
Of particular note is the final season’s special Seasonal Championship. 50 Years of Porsche 911 Turbo will award you with the fourth and final new car available this Series: the 2023 Porsche 911 Turbo S.
Three of the four seasons (Summer the exception) have Treasure Hunt events, with two of those requiring you to lap the Oval in 20s or less, net a Burnout Skill at the Test Track, and to hit one star at any Speed Trap (which you’ll do as part of a PR Stunt anyway).
There’s also the regular Monthly Rivals challenges running across the whole four weeks, starring the new GT3 RS and “Rallye” 911s, along with seven EventLab course and — unusually — two Horizon Arcade challenges too.
