The latest Forza Horizon 5 Let’s Go stream has revealed all the new content coming to the game when Series 5 starts this Thursday, March 3, and there’s plenty to get through.
An update containing the S5 package will arrive this week, and there’ll be new cars, new cosmetic items, new props for players to add in EventLab, new PR Stunts, and a makeover for the stadium which will play host to a giant stunt park.
The central theme for the four-week Series — running until March 31 — is the “Horizon Rush Takeover”. That’s the fesitval hub which centers on PR Stunts, like Speed Traps and Danger Signs, so March will be all about going as fast and as far as you can.
If you head up to the outpost itself, you’ll find it’s covered in new decorations, including fireworks and confetti. That’s nothing compared to the changes to El Estadio Horizon, which is now the Stunt Park. There’s all sorts going on as you can spot in the image above, with Drift Zones, smashable items, ramps, and suchlike.
In addition, there’ll be 16 new PR Stunts dotted around the world, with one each of Danger Sign, Speed Trap, Speed Zone, and Trailblazer in each of the four weeks of the Series. While most of these will only be available in S5, and marked with a rainbow map icon, the Speed Zones will be permanent additions.
For those of you who were massive fans of the Parade Float event (Canyon Expedition), it returns as a special race during the Series. You can race it at any time, but it’s also a part of the Summer Playlist, and it’s not just one float but a grid full of them.
The Playlist generally has something of a change too. Whereas Series 4 had no PR Stunts and focused on the nation vs. nation racing, S5 is bursting with them. There’s special clothing and personalization items throughout the month too, and new items — including wintery objects from S2 as well as S5-themed items — for you to place on your EventLab routes.
Finally there’s also new Accolades added into the Evolving World section, many of which revolve around executing tricks in the Stunt Park.
Of course a new Series also means new cars, and there’s nine in total coming in March. While four of them are Car Pass vehicles — one a week — the other five are all available in the Playlist, and there’s more good news on that front. Not only do these new exclusive cars remain the lower-tier prize each week, the threshold has lowered again to just 20 points.
Pick up the points in the first, Summer season and you’ll win the KTM X-Bow GT4, which returns from FH4. Effectively a customer race car, the GT4 is an even more mad version of the regular X-Bow, adding an aerodynamic body to the lightweight track toy. It was such an odd car to deal with that trying to balance it with other GT4 cars with power and weight changes wasn’t possible, resulting in it having an extra inch of ride height added to rein it in.
Autumn’s 20-point prize car is another Toyota off-road truck, following on from the AT37 and AT38 during S3. This time it’s the 4Runner, in TRD Pro guise. Rather than adding more power, this package gives the 4Runner even better off-road capabilities, with new suspension and body protection.
For Winter you’ll be able to score a very British supercar, with Noble’s M600 making its fifth appearance in five Horizon titles. The M600 features a 4.4-liter V8 sourced from the first-generation Volvo XC90, but adds a couple of turbos for good measure. With well over 600hp on tap, and Noble’s famous reticence to use any driver aids at all, we can’t think of a better car for winter.
Finally the Spring 20-pointer is the 2020 Nissan GT-R NISMO, as teased by the Wordle puzzle earlier in the month. It might be quite literally the ultimate interpretation of Nissan’s now-15-year old GT-R platform, combining GT3 racing know-how with the MY17 updated GT-R to produce the very fastest road car Nissan can muster.
Pick up all four — or just score 80 points (again, a lower target) across the Series — and you’ll also get the Mini Forza Edition. It’s a bit of a curious piece, as it features a 235hp, all-wheel drive, fully electric drivetrain, which does somewhat raise the question: EV engine swaps when, PG?
The four Car Pass machines are the Fox body Mustang SVO, the Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, the Noble M400, and a Ferrari 488 Challenge. They’ll each become available on the first day of each season to all Car Pass owners.
A number of bugfixes are also coming along in the update, and obsessive players will be glad to hear that includes a fix for the S1/S2 Playlist issues. All players will be awarded the points for the incomplete, glitched challenges from these Series — retroactively gifting any rewards, Accolades, and Achievements if this takes them over the threshold to do so — putting an end to the missing 100% scores in your Series History.
We’ll put a full list of bugfixes in the comments, but highlights include Photomode fixes involving time of day and persistant water droplets, livery editor tweaks, and headlight issues.
One final change is significant but won’t affect the majority of players. Forza has always been a series that prides itself on inclusivity, and with that in mind the S5 update will add full support for American and British Sign Languages.
The Series 5 update is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday March 1, with the Series itself getting underway at 1430UTC on Thursday March 3.
