It’s happening! No well-worn GIF here though, folks, just pictures of cars. Turn 10 has announced that Forza Motorsport 6 has gone gold, meaning it has started the production process before showing up on a shelf near you. In addition, it’s announced that a demo is coming to players on September 1, as well as revealed the final 10 cars for the game. This brings the on-disc total to 460 – the largest roster yet seen in a Forza game at launch.
And what cars they are. Starting off with the new GT S from Mercedes-AMG, these last cars cover a wide range of disciplines and decades. There’s the M1 Procar, driven by numerous F1 pilots including series winner Nikki Lauda; another BTCC competitor in the shape of the ebay-sponsored 125i M Sport; more sports car-based racers with the R8 LMS Ultra and C7.R; another Can-Am wonder from Lola; the infamous JPS-liveried Lotus 77, joining the two existing 1976 season F1 cars; and three road cars from Volvo, Jaguar, and Ferrari. The list:
- 2015 Mercedes-AMG GT S
- 1979 BMW #6 BMW Motorsport M1 Procar
- 2015 Volvo S60 Polestar
- 2014 Audi #45 Flying Lizard Motorsports R8 LMS ultra
- 2014 BMW #5 ebay Motors 125i M Sport
- 2014 Chevrolet #3 Corvette Racing Corvette C7.R
- 2015 Jaguar XKR-S GT
- 1976 Lotus #5 Team Lotus 77
- 1969 Lola #10 Simoniz Special T163
- 2014 Ferrari California T
The demo will launch next week and any player that plays it will receive the 2017 Ford GT (FM6’s cover car) in the full game when they first load it up. Turn 10 promises other features in the demo will “allow fans to get even deeper into the Forza Motorsport 6 experience”, so stay tuned for more details as they become available.
Forza Motorsport 6 launches September 15 in North America, and September 18 in Europe. Any person from any region can start playing the game September 10 if they purchase the Ultimate Edition. Pop into our dedicated Forza 6 forum to keep up to date on all developments relating to the game.

Should’ve been the Lotus 78/9 really.
Whoever will take care of releasing the news article about Forza 6’s arrival, Please make sure the news thread doesn’t turn into a game comparison war ground.
I’m just asking a small favor. To each their own game after all. Thanks in advance!
So what is PD up to?? .. the Vision project is a great overall design exercise, but it feels like it’s the only thing they are doing and worse it seems like it will never end.
They need to show that they understand what’s out there. They need to show that they can competition with it, that they can still level up the racing game.
Honestly, I don’t believe they can.. PD seems very outdated with their mentality and how they do things. Unfortunately for them, the other racing game are eating them up alive and they don’t even seem to notice.
And when they’ll announce something about a new game it’ll be hard to create a big hype after those 2 disasters that hurt their image and reputation pretty badly. Everybody here is sceptical about what PD says because we’ve been let down too many times.
Still, goodluck to them and their future.
Just my 2 cents and general feeling about PD and all the racing games out there presently.
“They need to show that they understand what’s out there. They need to show that they can competition with it, that they can still level up the racing game.

Oh, let’s do compare a last generation game on outdated hardware to the latest offerings on next gen systems and new gaming PCs. Why don’t we also compare previous generation racers to those on PS2, XBox and GameCube, as well as on Win98 Pentium IIIs.
I would mention that Kaz went on yet another hiring binge, even nabbing Turn 10’s former head of sound design. But, ohh, he’s probably just doing them all a favor so they can drink some of his wine collection while they sit around bullshifting…
You mean PD nabbed the T10 sound guy, from the game who’s sounds you said you didn’t like because they were too loud and raspy? That guy?
@TenaciousD Good job on completely misreading what I wrote ans thus completely missing my point… I never compared any thing directly with GT6.
Give it an other shot, maybe you’ll get it this time, eh.
Oh, you didn’t say a thing about other games eating them alive… my mistake. ;D
@JohnnyP, yes, that guy. My hope is that away from a game company which tries to go all Hollywood, he can contribute in a way which will make me want to install a racing muffler.
Not gonna play the demo. Otherwise I’ll have trouble dealing with the eagerness. Happened when Forza Horizon 2 was about to be released.
So… Project Cars on PC, Forza games on Xbox Ones and GT6 on PS3/Driveclub on PS4.
While Forza seems to be blowing GT out of the water, they’re releasing games so often that you’ll invest all your money just before the new one is released. I’m drooling over Horizon 2 and Motorsport 6 but the newest Forza will definetly be at E3 2016…
I don’t really see a problem with the release schedule. You more or less get a new game every other year. Sure there is technically a “Forza” branded game released every year, but they really have little in common apart from being part of the same franchise and having cars.
The Forza release schedule is ideal IMO. After 2 years all but the most hardcore fans are left playing, same as in GT. I think if there was a new GT every 2 years the fans would ecstatic.
I would more ecstatic if PD released a Gran Turismo every three or four years, but made sure it was the best they could make it, stock it well, and offer occasional DLC. The last thing I want to do is drop $15-20 on essentially the same Porsche Pack every two years, on top of all the other DLC, on top of Live Gold…
You guys who are big fans of that, have at it, spend spend spend. I’m still faced with picking through all the “essential” Buy It NOW goodies which are truly essential from iRenting Jr – err, RaceRoom.
So you love the series, it’s the greatest thing in racing games ever, Kaz is a legend, a man among men but paying $15-20 for DLC is going to push you over the edge?
You need to stop skimming, Johnny. Let me repeat a specific part so you’ll understand.
“The last thing I want to do is drop $15-20 on essentially THE SAME PORSCHE PACK EVERY TWO YEARS, on top of all the other DLC, on top of Live Gold…”
I prefer PC sims but have enjoyed GT (some versions back) and Forza up to the latest. To me its not PD/GT against T10/FM or vice-versa. While I haven’t enjoyed GT from quite some time I would never rule out purchasing a new version if it hits the mark. No loyalty, I will buy one series or both depending on the enjoyment to be had.
You have to ask yourself, are you a Sony/PD/GT guy, a MS/T10/FM guy, or someone that loves virtual racing above all else. Easy for me.
+1
People should not buy lesser games period.. It improves the quality of a product no end if you say no to churned out, slightly revamped repetitivenesss.
i do believe forza 4 had more cars on disk at launch lol, and only 6 tracks with either weather OR time change lol, weak turn 10, really weak. love the carlist tough, much better then 50 skylines and 30 miata’s lol
Just to be able to sample American cars without a weedy vacuum cleaner sound, this has got to be a for sure buy.
It looks really good.
Can Gran Turismo 7 top this??
Graphically probably yes. As far as car list, track list, features, etc. go our guess is as good as anyones at this point.
After GT5 and 6 I would doubt it. I have loved GT from the beginning but I have to accept reality. They are no longer relevant unfortunately. Too much competition to for them to sit on there butts. Any news now might salvage some of the hurt with us fans.
By the time GT7 ever comes out there will be a new xbox with Forza 7.
Physics and wheel support will be much better, but FM will always have better customization, sounds, and game modes.
@fortbo ….If you think GT6 has better driving physics then Forza 5 then you obviously haven’t played FM5. For me (and many others….) Forza 4 was the title where FM had just about caught up with GT (better tire physics but still slightly behind in overall realism). But with FM5 Turn10 absolutely has the edge now. Is it a huge lead? No. But it is the more realistic authentic driving sim between the two games.
Never ever thought I’d say this: Man I wish I had an XBone.
Never bought/owned an XBox. Always had PS. Played GT since the beginning & patiently waiting for news on GT7. I don’t own a next gen console yet & cannot afford to get both.
I’m seriously considering choosing XBone & Forza this time round. I still play GT6 but the fun/enjoyment has gone. It’s this silence from PD which is pushing me towards Forza. Even just a tiny bit of news would be enough to keep me interested in GT.
Don’t worry man, by the time GT7 is released the PS4 would be on discount
Haha we will all be grey by the time GT6.5 is released! So close to buying an XB1 I can taste it.
I don’t regret a thing about jumping to Xbox and Forza. I wish I had done it sooner, I really like everything about both more than I did Sony and GT.
And yet more immature childish comments from magic ayrton there, what age are you, 5?
Yet more personal attacks by Sepulturite, what are you 4? Go away.
It’s better than the childish posts you come out with all the time, constantly taking the p*ss out of people you like and talk about gt, it’s ridiculously immature and totally not necessary
*who like
If PD don’t step up and show something about Gran Turismo 7 this very same year at TGS…they can say “bye bye” to a loyal (until now) customer for ever.
I don’t get what’s up in their minds…also if they are really going to keep putting repeated model cars and those extremely ugly standards in a “new generation” console, I’m just done.
I’m a 30 year old guy who played every GT till now since the first one, but come on…the flaws in GT5 (I own Signature Edition) and GT6 (I own Anniversary Edition) were massive.
Priorities for PD: The car list, engine sounds, career structure + features, get rid of P2P online and start to put money on dedicated servers if they want to get real racing, and overhaul of the physics and collisions.
I personally don’t care about damage, repeated car models with different minor details, helmets or gear, even about track editors, etc.
Just give us Play Station owners a proper racing game and a simulator. Follow the path of the competition this time and get rid of that “vision”, because this time I also want a FULL GAME to play since day one.
Peace out.
You’ll still buy GT7 no matter when they announce it.
“Just give us Play Station owners a proper racing game and a simulator.” They already did, it’s called Project Cars. I would bet dollars to doughnuts that GT will never be on that level of simulation because they game is increasingly designed for the casual user, with only lip-service paid to the hardcore GT fans.
Mubble you are one Arrogant individual.. He won’t be buying it neither will I and many many others as they will have already got an XB1 by 2026..
Gran Tursimo was the only reason I bought Play Stations. Same with Forza and the xbox.
After 5 and especially 6 I’m pretty sure I will not buy a PS4. I did not want to buy a xbox one because of, you know, Microsoft. But my god, Forza 6 looks awesome.
I feel really sorry for PS4 only owners. I’m fortunate to have both an Xbox One and PS4 and so don’t need to wait and wonder when Kaz is going to get his arse in gear and bring out GT7. What was it he said? It would be much easier and quicker to develop on the PS4. Riiight. T10 have already brought out 3 Forza games on their current gen console. PD a great big whopping 0. Oh baby, roll on September 10th, Ultimate Editionen here we come! :-)
Horizon isn’t developed by T10, but by Playground. Otherwise, agree, it’s strange how much T10 already has done on the Xbone and how PD hasn’t even so much as bleeped about GT7, not even a tech demo like the one for the PS3 back in the day.
Either they are completely reinventing GT from the ground up, or they are dawdling around trying to fit more moon missions and ps2 era skylines into the game….
@ChromeBallz – I’m really hoping they are also re-inventing GT. A series like that is in need of that type of treatment. Ghost is re-booting Need for Speed and this year’s title will help pave the future direction of the series. Kaz and PD should seriously consider this decision, perhaps focusing on “authentic driving simulation”.
Suddenly GT6 looks so 90’s, after looking at this car list. c’mon PD get your act together.
I agree with hardvibes, GT7 better be real good, one the things that really gets me is the standard cars, put one of those next to a Driveclub whip, come on Kaz, 2015 now!
As a Ps only fan this hurts 2014 #93 SRT Motorsports Viper GTS-R – 2014 #3 Corvette Racing Corvette C7.R . I would personally trade 90% of the cars in gt6 just for those two cars. Damn Guess i have to rethink my loyalty to the PS and GT Brands…….. Thanks for nothing PD. wasn’t that hard to get those two cars in gt6
I am so doooooone. GT7 needs many of these new cars that Forza’s bringing to the table if it even wishes to stay competitive in this current market of racing games. Even if Forza’s not a true sim, the car list just blows so many games completely out of the water in terms of what we want to race in.
I mean seriously. The C7.R, Viper SRT GTS-R, M1 Procar. I could go on, but these are things the people of GT want, not 60+ Skylines, Miata/MX5/Eunos, 3000GTs, etc. We need CARS.
Also done here I guess. I got an X360 and Xbox One specifically for Forza. If GT7 won’t be AT LEAST as good as Forza Motorsport 4 (yes, 4) I will not get it. I also agree Forza Motorsport is not 100% simulation but it’s still fun, especially online. All the cars, all the body mods, all the tuning mods, all the liveries, the sounds, the collisions, the user-friendly interface, the multiplayer. All…is…great. Yeah ok FM5 is a little flawed but this new title won’t be.
It’s all I want.
Not a freaking useless gps data logger (how many of the millions of GT players own a GT-R in real life…honestly…), useless VGT cars, STANDARD CARS with a stupid black frame as cockpit (still? In 2016 when GT7 will come out? Are you serious?), duplicate cars etc. Still no advanced livery editor, no advanced body customization, no tuning on the go (pause, tune, resume), no marketplace and ratings for decals, liveries, tuning setups, no simple multiplayer etc…
If you take out the standards and the duplicates how many cars left in gt6?
@Racemachine – GT6’s Premium list, shorn of 15th Anniversary, Stealth, and Chromeline cars – though including Base Models and the Race-Mod-turned-standalone-models from GT5, as well as all VGT’s – totals 436.
Sinyster, if you don’t want 60+ Skylines then don’t use them. It’s not much more difficult than that. There’s about a thousand other cars available to you.
no no I understand about the Skylines. I’m simply mentioning the fact that PD is putting in that amount of essentially one car, and claiming they have the most diverse and largest amount of cars in a game. While it may be true, it’s not much of a list when there’s only so many of them that people want compared to what games like Forza, as we see here, are putting out.
@Racemachine.. 449 cars left haha!
Jeeeze… really questioning myself now if I want to get a console just cause of this, or if I want to go into PC racing..
But man, Yas Marina though..
I bought the Xbox One back in May SPECIFICALLY for Forza. One of the best investments I could make. I play FM5 online every day and enjoy it.
I know someone has a Can/Am series in the works!
