Dan Greenawalt has revealed that the Turn 10 team created Forza Motorsport 7 from scratch for the PC.
The studio’s creative director broke the news during IGN’s E3 post-show interview. The latest version of the racing series is the first developed without a console in mind, and decision to produce the game for the PC first highlights a new focus on the platform.

It’s not the first Forza game available for the PC. That honor fell to Forza Motorsport 6: Apex, a free-to-play title in 2016. Although well received, Apex didn’t quite have the feel of a full-fat Forza Motorsport game. It also sported a much smaller car and track list than its console equivalent.
This won’t be the case with Forza Motorsport 7, as the PC was the primary platform for the game’s development.
Forza 7’s grand debut coincided with the launch of the latest addition to the Xbox family. On console at least, it looks set to be the new technical standard for the franchise.
The title will run on the new Xbox One X at 4K resolution and locked to 60fps. With even more power to play with in gaming PCs, we expect it to at least match that standard. We anticipate that console features like dynamic weather and a 700+ strong car list should be the same or better too. FM7 will support an extensive list of steering wheels and peripherals from launch.
It will have considerable competition though. Forza Motorsport 7 is set to go up against big hitters like Project CARS 2 and GT Sport in the latter half of the year. It’s certainly a packed 2017 when it comes to racing games!
Turn 10 has clearly learned from Apex and is aiming to deliver a better overall experience. Even though the focus is on the One X this week, hopefully we’ll see some PC footage too.
