And so it begins again! The fall racing season continues to heat up with the launch of Forza Motorsport 7. The game is now available for owners of the Ultimate Edition, ahead of the regular release next Tuesday, October 3.
FM7 launches only a week after Project CARS 2 (which you can read our review for here). It also bolts out of the gates just over two weeks before GT Sport releases.
The Motorsport series has staked out the fall season of odd-numbered years for nearly a decade. The latest iteration first appeared on the show floor at E3 2017, touting the new 700hp Porsche 911 GT2 as its cover star. 700 is an important number for the game, as that’s also the size of its monstrous car list.
FM7’s track count is up to a healthy 32 now. The new Dubai Circuit, based off hte Jebel Hafeet road, headlines the list. Joining it are returning fan-favorites Suzuka, Mugello, and Maple Valley. Dynamic time and weather (from the Horizon series) is also a part of the mix.
The other big news for this iteration is a rethink of the single player mode. Car collecting has taken center stage, with the entire game geared towards exploring that huge car roster. The career mode is now less linear, and utilizes a new Homologation feature. Turn 10 promises this will help provide better-balanced races.
News has come thick and fast for FM7 this month. Players got access to the demo just last week, for example. As the first full Motorsport title for PC, Turn 10 has ensured players have plenty of peripheral choices. The full PC wheel list is extensive — creative director Bill Giese even said the team tried a guitar accessory.
