Forza Motorsport Update 14: NASCAR, Multiplayer Ghosting Changes, and More

It’s time to raise the Stars and Stripes as Turn 10 launches its Forza Motorsport November update for Xbox and PC users.

Aptly named “American Thunder”, the latest update celebrates the greatest racing machines to come out of the USA.

Weighing in at 6.7GB on Xbox Series X and 7GB on PC, this is quite a light update but still introduces further tweaks to gameplay to compliment the newest content.

Let’s dive in to what Update 14 brings to the table.

Table of Contents

Forza Motorsport Update 14: NASCAR

The big news with Update 14 is the long awaited return of NASCAR. The storied series has been a favorite in Forza for some time, and the latest update marks the first appearance of the “Next Gen” Cup Series cars in Forza Motorsport.

Of the three new vehicles, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is the oldest as it’s been around since the introduction of the Next Gen regulations in 2022 — receiving updates to the present day — whereas the Ford Mustang Dark Horse and Toyota Camry XSE are updated variants for the 2024 season.

The Next Gen cars introduced major technological changes to the traditionally antiquated NASCAR, including a switch to independent rear suspension and introducing a five-speed sequential manual to replace the old four-speed H-pattern.

Forza Motorsport Update 14: Spotlight/VIP Cars

Alongside the NASCAR Cup Series cars, a variety of other American race cars will be made available over the next few weeks.

You can pick up these cars for a 30% discount using in-game credits, and will also play a major part in the newest featured Tour. If you have VIP, you can also enjoy a 15% discount on another range of cars.

  • Nissan 300ZX #33 Bob Sharp Racing ’88 – Dec. 4-11

The main Spotlight car that arrives is the 2010 Mazda Racing B09/86. Based on the earlier generation Lola B09 chassis, this machine competed in the LMP2 category in the American Le Mans Series with Dyson Racing where they finished in fourth place.

It uses a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine tuned to make 525hp to comply with LMP2 regulations of that era. Without the European LMP1 cars that competed in ALMS, the Lola-Mazda is more than capable of holding its own against its domestic competition.

Drivatar AI has also been tuned for better racing on ovals and collision detection has also improved to reduce the impact of small bumps.

The Lamborghini Murcielago SV, Sian FKP 37 and McLaren P1 are the latest cars to have received updated audio based on community feedback.

Rendering has also been improved with the global reflection probe now at the camera location to allow more accurate reflections.

Some physics issues have also been addressed, including hitting kerbs causing uncontrollable spins primarily at Mugello. Track wall friction has also been adjusted at the oval circuits.

Update 14 will run over the next five weeks until mid-December, where T10 has confirmed Bathurst will return as the next circuit in Update 15 and as the last one for 2024. The return of Bathurst will also coincide with Australian themed events in the next update.
