Forza Motorsport Update 16: BMW Takes Over

Turn 10 is getting 2025 off to a flying start by rolling out Update 16 for all Forza Motorsport players on console and PC.

Bavaria is taking over the newest update, as the latest content and events are all tailored around BMW, with modern and classic road and racing machines.

A very light update weighing in at just 5.3GB on PC and 8GB on Xbox Series X/S, the changes largely center around the latest content additions.

Let’s dive in to see what Update 16 brings.

Forza Motorsport Update 16: Spotlight/VIP Cars

As part of BMW Month, the latest spotlight cars are all from across the different eras of BMW’s iconic M Division. A selection of modern and classic cars will be available over the coming weeks.

Players can pick up the latest cars for a 30% discount using in-game credits, where they will also be the centerpiece for the latest tour. Players who have VIP can pick their own selection of BMWs for a 15% discount over the next five weeks.

A different crop of BMWs has also been added to the showroom.

Although not a Spotlight car, the 2023 BMW M Hybrid V8 is the most significant new car to be added. Joining the Cadillac V-Series.R and Porsche 963, the BMW is the latest machine to join the growing GTP field in Forza Motorsport.

The M Hybrid V8 marks BMW’s return to top level prototypes for the first time since 1999. Running to LMDh regulations, the BMW uses a 4.0-liter V8 lifted from the DTM car, boosted by twin turbochargers and coupled to a standardised energy recovery system.

Power is capped at 670hp according to balance of performance rules. Like the Cadillac and Porsche, BMW runs a dual campaign in both IMSA and WEC as part of the hypercar convergence agreement. This particular variant of the M Hybrid is run by Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in IMSA.

Another BMW prototype being added is the 1999 #16 V12 LMR. While the #15 would be victorious at the 1999 Le Mans 24 Hours, the #16 was originally scheduled to be part of a three-car lineup, before being dropped. The #16 also joins the pantheon of BMW’s Art Cars, with the livery designed by neo-conceptual artist Jenny Holzer.

Under the hood sits a 6.0-liter V12 putting out around 600hp, where it was able to keep pace with the newer closed-cockpit prototypes.

Forza Motorsport Update 16: New Events

The newest tour takes you through the different eras of BMW’s legendary M cars.

BMW Tour

  • Early M – BMW M635CSi ’86
  • Motorsport GT- BMW M8 GTE #1 BMW M Motorsport ’18
  • Modern M – BMW M4 Coupe ’14
  • BMW Motorsport Endurance – BMW V12 LMR #16 BMW Motorsport ’99

Each series will put you in one of the featured Spotlight cars spanning from the iconic street cars to intimidating race cars.

Complete each series and you’ll be rewarded with the 2023 BMW M4 GT3 run by Turner Motorsports for use in the final reward showcase.

The BMW Tour is scheduled to begin on January 8 with “Early M”, with each of the following series afterwards being unlocked after a seven day period. If you want to go with a different path, you can also do 10 races in the BMW Series over in Featured Multiplayer.

This tour will run until February 26, giving you plenty of time to run each series.

Open Class Tour

The latest Open Tour gives you free reign to build either your favorite BMW or any car of your choice as you work your way up from D-Class to R-Class.

Finish each three race series and you’ll get a 1976 BMW 3.0 CSL race car as your prize to use in the final showcase.

You’ll need to be quicker with this series, as it only runs to February 12.

Forza Motorsport Update 16: Challenge Hub

The newest set of Featured and Weekly challenges bring more cars, cosmetics and credits for players to go after, with paths available for both single player and multiplayer.

  • BMW Enthusiast Challenge – Complete all series in the BMW Tour in Career OR complete 10 races in the BMW Series in Featured Multiplayer
  • Open Class Challenge – Complete all series in the Open Class Tour in Career OR Complete 10 races in any Open Series in Featured Multiplayer
  • New Year, New Drift Challenge – Complete 10 clean laps in the ‘New Year, New Drift’ Rivals Event
  • Winter Weather Wipeout – Complete 5 laps at night and 5 laps in the rain
  • Ice Slide Challenge – Get a Drift Score of 15,000 in any Drift Rivals event
  • BMW M Hybrid V8 Challenge – Complete 15 laps in the “Race to Le Mans with BMW M” Rivals Event

Forza Motorsport Update 16: Multiplayer Events

BMW also takes center stage for the latest featured series in Multiplayer. Just as in the Featured Tour, choose your favorite BMW and prepare to do battle in the BMW Challenge Series.

With the Daytona 24 Hours approaching, a special series at Daytona will make its return, featuring Forza Proto-H, Forza P2 and Forza GT3 cycling every few hours.

Other popular series to be featured throughout Update 16 include the Mazda MX-5 Cup and Ginetta Juniors, as well as a multiclass Forza GT series.

Forza Motorsport Update 16: Rivals

Rivals is jam-packed with lots of events to tackle and set your best leaderboard times.

The latest Spotlight BMWs each get their own events that will be available for seven day periods, whereas the BMW M Hybrid V8 gets a five-week long event at Daytona with a chance to win a trip to this years Le Mans 24 Hours.

VIP Players will get their own event where they will wrestle the BMW M1 Procar around the Nurburgring GP Circuit.

Drifters get a wide choice of events to prepare their best cars for A, B and C-Class, with Catalunya, Maple Valley and Suzuka as the battlegrounds.

Meanwhile the third qualifying round of the Logitech G Challenge will put you in the McLaren P1 hybrid around Watkins Glen.

Forza Motorsport Update 16: Other Changes

There’s not much additional changes and fixes with the latest update, with the main change being a couple more cars receiving reworked audio. The 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 gets improved cockpit audio, while the 2002 Ferrari Enzo gets a complete audio rework.

All players will receive a special gold Mobil 1 livery for the #01 Cadillac V-Series.R as part of Mobil 1’s 50th anniversary.

Finally, Homestead Miami, Hakone, Maple Valley and the Home Space all get reverted to original in-game branding.

Update 16 will run until mid-February, where T10 has already announced that the next theme will celebrate Daily Racers. There’s been no announcement on whether a new track will be added in Update 17, but we should expect one if the current pattern of updates continues through 2025.
