Google’s new streamed gaming service, Stadia, will officially launch on November 19, at least for those customers who’ve already bought the Founder’s Edition package.
Stadia will allow players to stream from a library of games at up to 4K resolution, with HDR, at 60fps, and with 5.1 surround sound, providing the customer’s connection maintains over 35Mbps. The system adapts to accommodate lower speeds, with 720p at 60fps, and stereo sound at the recommended minimum 10Mbps.
The Founder’s Edition package has been available to pre-order since June, but is now sold out in many of Stadia’s markets. At present, the $129 package is only available in the USA and Canada, having already sold out across all the European territories including the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and Scandinavia. If you’ve missed out, the Premiere Edition — also priced at the same $129 — is available where the Founder’s Edition has already sold out.
Included in the Founder’s Edition bundle is the ability to reserve your Stadia username, three months free of the Stadia Pro package ($9.99 each month thereafter) for you and one friend, and an exclusive Founder’s Night Blue controller and in-game Founder’s badge, along with a Chromecast Ultra. Premiere Edition buyers get just the one three-month Stadia Pro pass, and a Clearly White controller. They also get to wait, as only the Founder’s Edition gets access on November 19…

Google hasn’t said when it plans to launch the service outside the Founder’s Edition package, although it would appear to be later in 2019. However, it’ll start to offer a Stadia Base subscription service next year which allows gamers to buy games individually and play at up to 1080p and 60fps, rather than paying for the monthly Pro experience.
At launch, Stadia will include games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Elder Scrolls Online, Destiny 2, Borderlands 3, and Final Fantasy XV. The service caters for car fans too, with GRID and The Crew 2 both available on Stadia at launch.
The Stadia service will allow users to play these games on any supported connected device. That includes not only television, but laptops, mobile phones, and tablets too.
