It’s all-change this week in the new set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races, as the regulations have a bit of a shake-up
Up until now, players had been given relative freedom in the events, but this week sees a return of BOP: Balance of Performance. This method for equalizing car performance sees vehicle settings locked down and specific power and weight for each car — and it’ll be familiar to regulars of the GT Sport Daily Races.
For this week Race A again uses a vehicle you’ll pick up for free early in the GT Cafe single-player game, which this time round is the Renault Clio RS220 Trophy ’16. Pick up your National B Licence, or complete the relevant race in Menu Book 11, to win the car.
No vehicle settings are permitted, and that includes Wide Body kits, so if you’ve tuned yours already you’ll need to create a new settings sheet and set all values to default.
It’s a six-lap race of the Tsukuba Circuit, a relatively simple ribbon often used for Time Attack races. You won’t be picking up the “Done in 60 Seconds” Trophy, but even at six laps on Comfort Soft tires it’ll be over pretty quickly.
Race B is a familiar event from the days of GT Sport, consisting of a five-lap, Gr.3 car race around Interlagos.
Again BOP is turned on, and we haven’t truly seen the effects of BOP on Gr.3 in GT7 so it’s likely the established order will be a little different that we’re used to. Though it’s safe to say a Supra will be a good bet.
You’ll need Racing Hard tires for the race, which has no tire wear or fuel consumption; Wet and Intermediate tires are also available, though there’s no hint of bad weather.
Finally there’s Race C, which is another BOP event but this time for Gr.4 cars. Again, we’ve not really seen how GT7’s BOP will play out, but it’s probable that 4WD and FWD cars will still reign.
Whichever car you pick, you’ll have to contend with a ten-lap race of the Autopolis International circuit. Again, Racing Hard tires are the only option (alongside the wet-weather tires), but with only 2x wear and 2x fuel consumption multipliers we don’t see it being a factor. There’s also no mention of a compulsory pit stop, so it looks set to be a flat-out sprint.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.
The Daily Races are set to update “irregularly”, so we don’t know when these races will be replaced. However the updates have so far matched GT Sport’s regular offerings, with a new set arriving each Monday, so we’d anticipate a refresh on Monday March 28.
