A new set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races is now available, with three new races for players to build up their online ratings across the next week.
It’s another set of “Balance of Performance” (or “BOP”) races this week, with all three races prohibiting vehicle tuning and modification — other than liveries, of course — as Polyphony Digital continues to use this equalization method over the Performance Points it reintroduced with GT7.
Race A brings back a well-liked car from Gran Turismo 6 which went missing in Sport, in the shape of the Volkswagen Scirocco R.
This quirky hatchback is based on the Mk5 Golf, but the pinched body shape means only two people fit in the back. More importantly it uses a highly tuned version of the EA113 TSI engine, putting more than 260hp through just the front wheels.
Unlike the Mitsubishi GTO last week, you can pick up the Scirocco in Brand Central at any time. You’ll need to buy Comfort Soft tires for it, but otherwise there’s nothing to do but get out for the ten-lap blast around the short Brands Hatch Indy Circuit.
Race B remains as a Gr.4 race, allowing only cars in the Gr.4 category — similar to real-world GT4 — to take part.
Again, unlike GT Sport, this event will feature tire wear and fuel consumption, adding a mild tactical consideration. Both are relatively low values, with tires wearing at five times the standard rate and fuel draining out twice as fast as usual, so it likely won’t cause any major concerns in the five-lap race at Monza.
This was an event at which the Bugatti Veyron Gr.4 excelled in Sport, but it seems like the Mazda Atenza Gr.4 is the car of choice in 7. Either way, you’ll only need the standard Racing Hard tires to take part.
Finally Race C sees Gr.3 cars coming back after a week off. This class of vehicle is closely related to the real-world GT3 and GTE classes, even containing some examples of both.
As these cars are all rear-wheel drive by the requirements of the category, pick up any that you like for the 12-lap race of the Red Bull Ring circuit.
You’ll need to be quite kind to your tires though. Even on the Racing Hard option (the only permitted dry tire), the 10x tire wear rate will be quite punishing; it’s going to feel like a 320-mile race for your rubber. Fuel consumption won’t be a factor though, at only a 2x multiplier.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.
Thus far GT7’s Daily Races have updated on the same weekly schedule as GT Sport’s, so we’d expect the next new set to arrive on Monday April 25.
