Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races: Turn On, Tune In

Another new set of Gran Turismo 7’s Daily Races is now available, bringing a fresh set of events for players over the next seven days.

It’s another trio of real-world circuits hosting the events, circling the Pacific Rim as Japan, Australia, and California are the destinations this week.

As has been the standard since May, Race A is a “No DR/SR” event. That means players neither gain nor lose Driver or Sportsmanship Rating points no matter what, making it pretty much a scheduled, but region-limited, public lobby race.

This week it also reintroduces vehicle tuning as players are tasked with specific power/weight targets and vehicle limitations for a ten-lap race at Tsukuba.

You can use any vehicle tagged as a Road Car, with up to 493hp, a minimum weight of 1,500kg and four-wheel drive is mandatory. Sports Soft tires are required, and tuning — aside from nitrous — is open.

Engine-swapped GR Yaris and Lancia Delta models might prove popular, although the leaderboards are currently dominated by GT-Rs and Murcielagos. Watch out for the false start check on the grid start too.

Race B is a little more simple, as a five-lap race of Mount Panorama for Gr.4 cars. One quirk this week is the use of Racing Medium tires, but otherwise there’s nothing too complex here; AWD will likely dominate as usual.

That leaves Race C which heads to the USA’s west coast and the Laguna Seca circuit. You’ll be racing over 14 laps of the course in Gr.3 cars this week, but some strategy will be required.

Both Racing Hard and Racing Medium tires are mandatory, and a high wear rate will make for some interesting possibilities. It’s set to a 9x multiplier, so each lap generates nine laps’ worth of wear, which should chew up the Mediums pretty effectively.

You’ll also need to contend with a 3x fuel consumption multiplier, which might limit the usefulness of some of the thirstier cars in the GT3/GTE-like category.

In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.

With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday thus far, the next new set should arrive on Monday October 24.
