The latest weekly changeover of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races has taken place, with a brand new set of three events for players for the next seven days — and a chance to use some of those engine-swapped weapons in your garage.
That comes in Race A, which is again a “No DR/SR” event. That means you’ll not risk, but also not gain any, Driver or Sportsmanship Rating points — effectively turning the race into a scheduled, but region-limited, public lobby race.
It’s a six-lap race of the Tokyo Expressway Central Clockwise course, so it’s rather a good job that the recent 1.25 update toned down the wall-contact consequences.
You’ll need your tuning hat on, as the race is limited only to road cars (look for the “Road Car” tag) at or under 600.00PP, using Sports Medium or Sports Soft tires. Aside from nitrous, which is prohibited, you can use any method you like to hit that PP target.
That covers a lot of range, including some of the more exciting engine-swap vehicles; you might notice that a lot of the leaderboard is occupied by the Suzuki Cappuccino kei car right now, and that’s because it can receive a 13B rotary engine from a Mazda RX-7. With a rolling start too you don’t need to worry about grip off the line.
Race B is more regular fare, consisting of a five-lap race of the Trial Mountain circuit in Gr.3 cars on Sports Hard tires. There’s no further details to be concerned about, so just pick your favorite Gr.3 and go racing.
Meanwhile Race C has a more unusual set of regulations. It’s a nine-lap race for Gr.4 cars at the Nurburgring GP course, which generally means you just need to pick your preferred AWD car.
You will though need to be aware of fuel efficiency. This week the fuel consumption multiplier is set at 7x, so fuel drains at seven times the standard rate; you’ll need to use no more than roughly 14 liters per lap to make it to the end.
There’s also two permitted tire grades: Racing Hard and Racing Medium. Only the hard tire is mandatory — you must use it during the race or you’ll receive a one-minute post-race penalty — but at a 1x multiplier the faster Medium will last the whole race.
That may generate some interesting strategies: do you go for the no-stop fuel save and Hards, or one stop to refuel, with a short Hard stint?
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.
With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday thus far, the next new set should arrive on Monday October 31.
