The latest Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races are now available, with a new trio of events to run across the next seven days — and a chance to drive a legendary race car.
Updated (November 24): As of the 1.26 update, Race A is now a special event marking this weekend’s World Finals Manufacturers Cup, consisting of a Gr.3 race at Deep Forest Reverse, with 4x the reward money. Original article continues below.
That comes in Race A which is again a “No DR/SR” event as has been the case in almost every week since late May. You won’t gain or lose Driver or Sportsmanship Rating points for this race, no matter what happens on track.
Depending on how completionist you’ve been, there’s a good chance you won’t own the car for Race A. However the loan car system introduced in update 1.13 means nobody is excluded from the event — and even if you already own one, you might want to borrow a car just to keep the miles off.
The car in question is the Chaparral 2J, a vehicle with a number of nicknames due to its highly unusual appearance and technology. Resembling a toppled refrigerator, the 2J sported giant ducted fans and a Lexan skirt around the sides and rear. This created a reverse hovercraft, essentially sucking the car down onto the road to create constant downforce at all road speeds.
For the race itself, you’ll be taking the flying fridge for a seven-lap sprint of the Sardegna Road Track A, which runs out into the Italian island’s countryside, on Racing Hard tires. Watch out for the false start check on the grid, which penalizes those who jump the lights by cutting engine power.
Race B heads back to the Red Bull Ring, but on purpose rather than last week’s substitute circuit. It’s the full Grand Prix circuit too, hosting the GT3-like “Gr.3” category.
You have free choice of any of the cars in the class for the seven-lap race, and there’s no special considerations on fuel or tires, so pick your favorite car on Racing Hard tires and sprint to the checkered flag.
The game’s newest circuit, Watkins Glen, hosts Race C this week. This longer, ten-lap race is for Gr.4 cars and, as usual, that likely means AWD dominance and grids groaning with classic Alfa Romeo 155 touring cars.
You’ll need to be aware of the tire regulations, with Racing Hard and Racing Medium both available but the Hard being mandatory. That means you’ll need to complete at least one full racing lap on the Hard tire — pitting before you reach the start line for lap one, or as you approach the finish on lap ten, does not count — or face a one-minute time penalty after the race.
The tire degradation and fuel consumption multipliers flip back this week, with a 7x fuel multiplier. That means you’ll likely need to save fuel as it drains at seven times the standard rate, while the tires are back at the base 1x rate. Chances are a no-stop on Hard tires is the fastest way to go.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.
With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday thus far, the next new set should arrive on Monday November 28.
