Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races: Original Sin

The latest set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races is now available and — as is tradition post-update — features the newest track in the game.

That is, of course, Grand Valley, which returns to Gran Turismo 7 with the bumper v1.29 update in an updated and relocated form. In fact it’s a week heavy on the reworked original circuits, with all three races featuring old school tracks in their new forms.

Race A is still in the “No DR/SR” event format which has been the standard almost exclusively since May 2022. You’ll neither gain nor lose Driver or Sportsmanship Rating points for this race, so treat it as a scheduled lobby race. It’s probably for the best, as a new circuit and a powerful but loose rear-engined car could make for a plunging SR otherwise.

As you might have guessed, Grand Valley hosts the race, with its short “South” route — similar to the old East route, but the circuit now points 90 degrees off the old one — being the venue for a five-lap race in the 1995, 993-generation Porsche 911 in Carrera RS CS flavor. Just fit hard tires, or rent a car, and go racing.

It’s the also-reworked Trial Mountain up next, with Race B in its frequent Gr.4 sprint race format. You’ll need any of the Gr.4 cars for this race, and it’s worth noting that a mild BOP balancing that came in v1.29 has shifted the one-lap pace hierarchy from all-wheel drive to front-wheel drive — as it was during GT Sport’s life.

As it’s a four-lap sprint race, with no meaningful tires wear and on Racing Hard tires, it will probably end up being an FWD battle, so pick wisely.

Race C returns to Grand Valley for a Gr.3 event, but this time the full Highway 1 course. There are a couple of factors to be aware of this week though.

Firstly, there’s only the standard rates of tire wear and fuel consumption, so no need to visit the pits. That’s likely due to the pit lane bug that affected the World Series this week.

However, for the first time, you can also fit a Brake Balance Controller and adjust it to suit. No other settings are permissible, but it should open up some new possibilities for competitive vehicles.

In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.

With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday March 6.
