Three new racing challenges are available in Gran Turismo 7’s Daily Races, covering the next seven days of the game’s ranked online multiplayer and bringing the rare test of changing weather conditions into the mix.
Your new events begin win Race A’s one-make race, involving the 2006 Ferrari F430. You’ll need to fit Sports Hard tires to the mid-engined V8 for the race, which consists of a five-lap run around the compact West End layout of Lago Maggiore.
Not to be confused with the West course, West End is built around the circuit’s bowl hairpin, and features a cut-through between the full GP course’s final corner and the back straight just after the bridge chicane.
It’s going to be an interesting challenge with a tail-happy Ferrari, especially with the unfamiliar sharp hairpin in the new section of track, so fortunately it’s another “no DR/SR” event: you’ll neither gain nor lose Driver or Sportsmanship Rating points during the race.
Race B is a much more familiar event, using the game’s Gr.3 cars — broadly equivalent to the GT3 category — for a five-lap race around WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
You can use any of the Gr.3 category cars, although the popular choice has been trending towards the Supra Racing Concept recent, with Racing Medium tires the only option allowed.
That leaves us with Race C, which has more simple requirements than we’re used to, but one massive complicating factor: rain.
It’s an eight-lap race around Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, in its newest 24h layout, with dynamic weather thrown into the mix. That means you could face nothing but rain, no rain at all, or a mix of conditions varying from one to the other and back.
The race allows for Gr.4 cars — GT7’s equivalent to the GT4 category — with Racing Hard tires permitted alongside the grooved Intermediate and Wet options. If you’re unsure which to fit, the surface water indicator on the left has two markings on it which roughly denote the changeover point from slick to inter, and inter to wet.
There’s no tire wear or fuel consumption to worry about, but we’d recommend some all-wheel drive and maybe a click or two of traction control for the wet conditions…
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.
With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday April 17.
