The latest set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races is now available, bringing three fresh sets of challenges to the ranked online multiplayer mode to cover the next seven days.
Long-term players will be familiar with the format by now, with a specific one-make race for road cars in the unranked — but still scheduled — Race A, and the regular Gr.3/Gr.4 format for Race B and Race C. As usual, Race A and B are shorter, sprint events, with Race C running longer and with higher degradation levels.
This week’s Race A will see you heading to one of the shortest circuits in the game: the Miyabi circuit at Kyoto Driving Park.
It’s a one-make event for a classic Japanese performance car, and indeed the country’s only production supercar, in the form of the 1992 Honda NSX Type R. If you don’t already own it, the correct NSX is currently (April 17) available in the Used Car Dealer, or you can borrow one using the “Event Specified Car” rental feature.
The race itself is a ten-lap sprint around the compact course, which will be over before you know it. With Sports Hard tires required, it’ll be a challenge to get the mid-engined car around the hurry-up-and-wait first turn, and you may need a confidence brake through the first chicane, but otherwise we can see this being a close race for the 12-car field.
Race B brings us to Suzuka, for a five-lap race around the famous grand prix circuit in the GT4-like Gr.4 category.
It’s a simple enough affair this week, just requiring that you fit your choice of Gr.4 — and it looks like a more varied field than usual — with Racing Hard tires for the race. With no other considerations of which you need to be aware, just get out there and race.
Finally there’s Race C, which sees the return of recently added Road Atlanta. This tricky circuit with a wild opening section and plenty of elevation changes, will host the Gr.3 cars — similar to GT3 in the real world.
Once again, you’ll need to fit Racing Hard tires to your choice of car as the mandatory tire; failing to run at least one race lap on the Hards will result in a one-minute penalty after the race. However you’re going to need something kind to its rubber, as the 15-lap race has a tire wear multiplier of 6x.
That means your tires wear six times faster than usual so, unless you fancy a long pit stop — and a three-second penalty unless you’re very familiar with Road Atlanta’s pits — you’ll want a car that will keep the Hards working for the equivalent of 90 laps. The Medium tire will burn out too quickly to be able to use the grip and time advantage.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.
With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday April 24.
