The latest set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races, consisting of three new races running for the next seven days, is now available.
As players have come to expect across the last year, Race A is a “No DR/SR” event, which means your Driver Rating and Sportsmanship Rating won’t be affected by the event — no matter how well, or badly, it goes.
Unusually it’s a Gr.4 race this week, allowing players to select any car from the category which is largely equivalent to the real-world GT4 class. It consists of road cars that have been stripped out and fitted with racing-grade parts, including tires, brakes, and aerodynamics.
Brands Hatch hosts the race, on the short “Indy” configuration. It’s a ten-lap race, with the Balance of Performance set to its “Low-Speed” values for the class, and Racing Hard tires required. At this early stage there’s a lot of different competitive cars, so it should be an interesting mix of vehicles on the grid.
Race B uses the new 2023 Super Formula SF23 cars, with both the Honda- and Toyota-engined versions eligible, and Racing Soft tires required. These cars cost a million credits each, so you might like to use the “Event-Specified Car” rental system to borrow a vehicle for the race.
It’s a six-lap race around the Fuji International Speedway, which received a mild makeover in the recent 1.32 update. Don’t get distracted by the new buildings, and make sure you have a button mapped to use the Super Formula’s “overtake” boost feature.
You’ll also need to be aware of the False Start Penalty in this race. After all five lights come on for the grid start you’ll need to hold the car on the brakes until they go out; jumping the start will see your engine power reduced for a short period and you’ll be passed — or crashed into — by the rest of the grid.
Finally Race C takes us to the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, a fearsome ribbon through the Belgian Ardennes, for an eight-lap race in the Gr.3 cars with the BOP set to its “High Speed” figures.
Racing Hard tires are mandatory, meaning you’ll need to use them for at least one pass of the start-finish line on track or you’ll receive a one-minute penalty at the end of the race. You’ll also have the option of Racing Mediums.
However it’s likely to be a tire-saving event, with the tire wear set at a 7x multiplier: your tires will wear at seven times the standard rate. As the pit lane at Spa takes an age to traverse, you’re likely to lose out if you make a stop.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.
With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday May 8.
