The new Daily Races are now available in Gran Turismo 7, with another set of three fresh multiplayer events to occupy players for the week to come.
As we’ve seen throughout much of GT7’s life, Race A is a “No DR/SR Updates” event; no matter how well or badly things go during the race, there’ll be no impact on your Driver Rating or Sportsmanship Rating one way or the other.
It’s another one-make affair this week, for the 1989 BMW M3. Notably this car is one of the vehicles in the game that can receive an engine-swap — from the Suzuki Vision Gran Turismo Gr.3 car, no less — so despite the application of the game’s balance of performance you might hear some very different-sounding cars on the grid.
Whether you have a swapped car, a standard model, or just borrow one for the race, all must have Comfort Soft tires fitted for the four-lap run around the Goodwood Motor Circuit.
For Race B you’ll be heading to one of the game’s returning, reworked fictional circuits, with Deep Forest hosting the racing.
The five-lap event is limited to Gr.4 race cars, Gran Turismo 7’s equivalent to GT4 cars. These are (mostly) based on production vehicles, stripped out to the bare minimum and fitted with racing-grade components like suspension, gearbox, brakes, and tire, along with some aerodynamic aids.
It’s likely to be another week where lighter-weight rear-wheel drive cars are the best choice, with the leaderboards currently dominated by the Nissan Silvia Touring Car. Whatever car from the category you choose, you’ll need to fit Racing Medium tires.
That leaves Race C, which is a bit of a beast this week. The Nurburgring 24 Hour circuit is the venue, and it’s already one of the most challenging circuits in the world before we even get to the fact there’s dynamic weather this week.
You’ll need to keep an eye on your rain radar for the two-lap race (and in qualifying, for some reason), because if you get caught out on the wrong tire on your Gr.3 race car — GT7’s equivalent to GT3 — you’ll lose ground very quickly, though rain isn’t guaranteed. There’s only Racing Hard slicks and the two types of wet-weather tire, Intermediate and Heavy Wet, available.
Neither tire wear nor fuel consumption will be a factor in the race, and there’s no pit stop required so it’s tactically a very simple race so long as the weather plays ball.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.
With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday May 29.
