Three new Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races await for players this week, bringing along two of the game’s most famous mountains and a circuit notable for almost no elevation change at all.
That features in Race A, which reverts to its regular one-make format this week, albeit in a slightly out-of-the-ordinary manner.
It’s an eight-lap race at the Tsukuba Circuit in Japan, a famous course for time attack and an annual endurance race for Mazda MX-5s. However you won’t be doing either of those things this week, as you’ll be racing karts.
You’ll need a Gran Turismo Racing Kart 125 Shifter for the race, equipped with Sports Soft tires. We’d also recommend adjusting your steering wheel’s range of operation (if you have one) and staying well clear of any curbs for what’s set to be one of the most madcap Race As in a while.
Watch out for the false start check on the grid too; hold the kart on the brakes until the lights go out, or you’ll lose power for several seconds and probably end up as ground zero for a massive crash.
As usual though the race is a “no DR/SR Updates” event. Neither your Driver Rating nor Sportsmanship Rating will be affected by the outcome of the race, nor any incidents within it.
It’s the usual Gr.3 and Gr.4 races in the other two events this week, but in both cases the normal pecking order may be upended by the ability to adjust your car’s brake balance.
Gr.3 is up first in Race B for a five-lap sprint race at the fearsome Mount Panorama circuit. You’ll need to fit Racing Hard tires to your choice of vehicle, in Gran Turismo’s equivalent to the GT3 racing category, but other than that and the brake bias there’s no special concerns for this week’s race.
Race C also looks to be a sprint format this week. It’s a ten-lap race around Trial Mountain, with Racing Medium tires required for your Gr.4 car.
While there’s often some strategy involved in these races, revolving around tires, this week it’s set to be pretty simple. Tire wear is not high, at just a 3x multiplier, so although you’ll face some grumpy rubber late race — having endured the equivalent of 30 laps — you won’t need to pit. There’s also no mandatory stop either.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.
With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday August 7.
