A new week means a new set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races has arrived, with a bit of a change in the lineup from what we’ve come to expect.
Two one-make races for road cars await us in this week’s line-up, along with a sprint race for the road car-based Gr.4 racing category — making this one of the most road-oriented weeks we’ve seen in a long time.
Race A is of course one of the one-make races, with a classic car that you’ll probably need to borrow for the event — or may want to, in order to preserve your own. That’s the Porsche Spyder 550 ’55, which isn’t due in the Legends Cars dealer for a while (although may show up as a “Special Pick” given its presence in the Daily Races this week).
You’ll need Comfort Soft tires for the little Porsche, ready for a short, four-lap blast around the Autodrome Lago Maggiore West circuit. This layout cuts out the “stadium” section of turns three to eight, cutting through onto the run under the bridge down to the bowl hairpin.
There’s a false start check enabled on the grid start this week. That means you’ll need to hold the car on the brakes or handbrake from the moment the lights all turn on and until they go off. Jumping the start results in an on-the-spot loss of engine power — for as much time after the start as the amount by which you anticipated it — and if you’re high up the grid you might end up being collected by the pack behind.
As usual you’ll also need to be aware of the fact that there’s no Driver Rating (DR) updates for this race, but Sportsmanship Rating (SR) will change as normal — so avoid any big incidents!
Race B heads over the Atlantic to Road Atlanta, which hosts the Gr.4 cars this week. It’s a straightforward five-lap run around the circuit in your choice of car from the category, and it’s likely that the Mazda 3 Gr.4 will continue to be the preferred car for many.
You may only use Racing Hard tires this week, and unlike some recent events the only tuning option available is the ability to adjust your Brake Balance Controller — both before and on the fly during the race.
That leaves the second one-make race to come in Race C, with the Toyota GR86 taking the starring role here.
It’s a seven-lap race around the twisty Autopolis course, and the full circuit layout at that. There’s only one regulation in play, which is the required fitment of Sports Soft tires for the race.
Again there’s a false start check on the grid start that you’ll need to heed, but with fuel consumption and tire wear rate multipliers sitting at the standard 1x and no mandatory pit stops this should be a relatively fuss-free sprint.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub.
With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday January 29.
