A new week means a brand new set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races are awaiting players, and the three new events all feature alternative layouts of the game’s circuits.
For Race A this week you’ll be heading to Watkins Glen, and that means the race takes place at the Short Course variation of the circuit — missing out the section called “The Boot”.
It’s a six-lap, one-make race for the classic, 2002 Nissan Skyline (R34) GT-R, appearing in-game in its high-grade V-Spec II Nur specification. That means a power output well north of 300hp, despite the famous “gentleman’s agreement” cap of 276hp, which is great for the long, full-throttle portions of the Glen. However the Sports Hard tires may lead to some tricky high-speed braking.
As usual, Driver Rating updates are turned off for the race. That means you won’t gain or lose DR no matter what the outcome of the race is. Sportsmanship Rating updates are turned back on after a week off, so take care or you may find it tanking.
Race B and C both have partial tuning turned on this week. You’ll be able to set up the car’s differential torque numbers, some components of suspension (damper expansion and compression, spring frequency, and anti-roll bars), and brake balance control is also available. This latter item can be adjusted mid-race too.
For Race B you’ll be tackling the compact Brands Hatch Indy Circuit in the Gr.4 cars. Agility will be key this week, as evidenced by the number of Megane Trophy cars on the current leaderboard, but you can select any vehicle from the category so long as it has Racing Hard tires fitted.
There’s an unusual regulation in this week’s race of which you’ll need to be aware, with the event requiring a mandatory pit stop. You must head through pit lane during the ten-lap race (note that you will need to both enter and exit pit lane under race conditions), although you don’t need to change tires or take on fuel.
Failing to make the stop will earn you a one-minute penalty at the end of the race, and the pit lane entry and exit can be tricky so be careful not to pick up a three-second penalty for crossing the lines at either end. You’ll also need to make your stop tactically, perhaps to get yourself into clear air.
There’s no such requirement for Race C this week, in the Gr.3 cars at the Reverse version of Deep Forest Raceway, although with two different sets of tires needed you’re going to have to make a stop anyway.
Again you can use any of the Gr.3 cars for the 14-lap race, and both Racing Hard and Racing Medium tires are required. That means you’ll have to make a stop (again under race conditions) to swap from one to the other or you’ll end up with a one-minute penalty at the end of the race.
A 7x tire wear multiplier means that you’ll be able to go some distance on the softer, Medium tires, so you’ll need to use the Hards for as little time as possible to get the best race time.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to take part.
