The start of a new week means the beginning of a new set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races, and this week’s trio of online multiplayer events features more of an incentive than usual.
It’s an unusual look on the events this week as not only do all three feature racing cars but two involve the same car category. You’ll be racing Gr.3 in Race A, Gr.4 in Race B, and Gr.3 again in Race C, as the line-up resembles a midfield-heavy football formation.
Both of the Gr.3 events also feature a big bump in the credits available, with a six-times — or +600% — multiplier for the prize money. This is something we ordinarily only see after GT World Series live events and for races using the same combinations as those the qualifiers race, so it’s even more unusual that this is in effect this week.
Otherwise it’s actually a surprisingly simple state of affairs this week, with Race A still having its usual deactivation of Driver Rating (DR) updates, and Race C having regulations around pit stops that you ought to read closely.
For Race A you’ll be visiting Interlagos in your choice of Gr.3 car. It’s a straightforward six-lap blast in whichever vehicle you favor, with Racing Medium tires fitted.
Meanwhile Race B takes you to Trial Mountain in the Gr.4 cars but in the reverse direction. That means the tight final chicane is now the tight first corner, and there’s a downhill right-hand sweeper as the final turn before a long run to the finish line if you muck it up. It’s just a four-lap race on Racing Hard tires.
You’ll be back in the Gr.3 and now on Racing Soft tires for the Race C event at the Nurburgring GP circuit, with a mandatory pit stop.
With this regulation you’ll need to head down the pit lane once during the race (any time between the end of the first lap and the start of the last). However you don’t need to pick up fuel or tires when you do so; simply coming in to box and leaving is enough. Failing to take the stop will earn you a one-minute penalty after the race, and be aware of crossing the pit-entry and — especially — exit lines to avoid a three-second, on-track penalty.
Tire wear itself here is pretty tight. It’s at a 3x multiplier, which will mean the equivlanet of 27 laps of wear on these Soft tires. You might like to swap for a fresh set just to save yourself from calamity at the end of the race.
Daily Races are the main ranked multiplayer events in GT7. Your Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR) are determined by your performances, updating after each race, and these are used to set your ranking and league for the game’s flagship esports series each season.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to take part.
With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday, October 14.
