A brand-new set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races is now available, running across the next seven days, and oddly featuring a second successive week of pure race-car action.
There’s a spot of asphalt rally up in the first event this week, as Race A heads to the newest track in the game — Eiger Nordwand — for some Gr.B action. This is GT7’s catch-all class for rally cars, encompassing WRC, Pikes Peak, and fictional rally models as well as one genuine Group B machine.
You’ll actually be racing the reverse layout of the track for seven laps, which adds a couple of very tricky spots to the course. Firstly there’s the potential to accidentally head down the pit lane if you get the left-hand kink wrong (or find yourself outside an unkind racer), but there’s also two braking zones where the car can get a bit squirrely if you’re not careful.
The cars will require Racing Medium tires, and you’ll also need to heed the False Start Check on the grid. This will penalize you with a short period of engine power cutout, and that could lead to a nasty accident if you’re higher up the grid.
Also note that the usual format of ranking updates remains in place. Driver Rating (DR) updates are switched off, but Sportsmanship Rating (SR) updates are still active. It’s a tight track with high-powered cars which can be rambunctious even on Racing Medium tires, so take care not to be involved in too many incidents or your SR may plummet quicker than the track does.
Race B has some semblence of normalcy this week, comprising a straightforward six-lap sprint at Deep Forest Raceway in the Gr.3 cars. It’s simply a case of picking your preferred vehicle from the class, making sure it has Racing Medium tires equipped and going out to have fun.
It’s worth noting what’s absent this week though. We’ve seen a 600% credit boost for recent Gr.3 events in the Daily Races, but that doesn’t apply this week.
Finally Race C takes you to Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta for a Gr.4 challenge. As usual it’s a longer, 14-lap race, but we’re again seeing a race with little by way of tactical elements despite this slot usually used for an endurance-type race (if ordinarily only by way of strategy rather than length).
You can select any of the Gr.4 cars — the Lamborghini Huracan seemingly, but not exclusively, the car of choice this week — so long as it has the standard Racing Hard tires fitted. From there it’s just a case of running 14 laps.
That’s because there’s no mandatory pit stop again this week, and the tire and fuel consumption multipliers are both set at 1x — or the standard rate. You’ll have no need to pit at all with those settings, so just drive from lights to flag.
Daily Races are the main ranked multiplayer events in GT7. Your Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR) are determined by your performances, updating after each race, and these are used to set your ranking and league for the game’s flagship esports series each season.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to take part.
With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday, November 4.
