The latest set of Gran Turismo 7 Daily Races is now available, with events previewing the action from this coming weekend’s Gran Turismo World Series World Finals.
Two of the three events in this week’s multiplayer races draw inspiration from events that will be raced in both the Manufacturers Cup and the Nations Cup during the Finals, and there’s quite a significant credits boost for taking part in one of them.
The action begins in Race A, which references the first Nations Cup race and features road cars (and one concept car) in a sprint challenge at Trial Mountain.
You’ll only be able to select a rental car from the dozen chosen vehicles, in standard colours, as they have been specifically tuned for this event. The candidate cars are, all on Sports Medium tires, the Chevrolet Corvette C7, Ferrari F40, Ford GT ’06, Honda NSX Type R, Jaguar XJ220, Lamborghini Diablo GT, Lexus LFA, Mazda RX-Vision, Mercedes SLR McLaren, Nissan Fairlady Z Z33, Porsche 997 GT3, and Toyota Supra ’97.
It’s just the four-lap sprint around the reworked Trial Mountain circuit, and you’ll need to be aware that you won’t gain or lose Driver Rating (DR) as DR updates are turned off. Your Sportsmanship Rating (SR) may still be affected though, so keep it clean…
This week’s Race B is the only one not directly influenced by the GTWS finals, and comprises a sprint race for Gr.4 machinery at Red Bull Ring.
While you can select any Gr.4 car again this week, it does look like the all-wheel drive cars are being favored for this five-lap sprint on Racing Hard tires. There’s no other special considerations, so just pick your car and go for a blast.
It’s Race C providing the most intrigue this week, by way of a monster, 20-lap race at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
The circuit will host all of the action in the Manufacturers Cup — which includes an unusual Superpole format this year — but while the finalists will need to represent their chosen brand from the 12 qualifiers, you can select any Gr.3 car you like.
You’ll need to fit Racing Medium tires for this race, and while there is a mandatory pit stop this regulation is just about immaterial. With tire wear set at a 4x multiplier, your rubber just won’t last to the end of the race and you’ll need to pit anyway… and that doesn’t even account for the variable weather which is in effect for this race too. Make sure you have both wet tire options available for your vehicle.
If you somehow manage to evade the pits all race, you’ll earn a one-minute penalty at the end of the race, and watch out for the pit entry and exit lines which will add a three-second time penalty each time to be served on-track.
Additionally, there’s a 1,000% credit boost for taking part in this race, so we’re expecting plenty of participation and more than a little attrition.
Daily Races are the main ranked multiplayer events in GT7. Your Driver Rating (DR) and Sportsmanship Rating (SR) are determined by your performances, updating after each race, and these are used to set your ranking and league for the game’s flagship esports series each season.
In order to access the Daily Races, you’ll need to unlock Sport Mode, by completing Menu Book 9 (“Championship: Tokyo Highway Parade”) in the GT Cafe single player hub. A PlayStation Plus subscription is required to take part.
With GT7’s Daily Races updating every Monday across the game’s life to date, the next new set should arrive on Monday, December 9.
