A new Gran Turismo 7 game update, 1.57, is now available for PlayStation 4 and 5 players, marking the third anniversary month with some new content and features.
Weighing in at just 1.1GB on PlayStation 5 and 964MB on PlayStation 4, it’s one of the smaller content updates we’ve seen but nonetheless brings some interesting changes to the game alongside the traditional three new cars.
While we did already know quite a lot about the update, the update process means that only now — with it deployed — do we know all of the official changes courtesy of the patch notes, so read on to find out everything that’s new this time round.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.57: Sophy 2.1
With apologies to PlayStation 4 players, we’re going to start this month’s round-up with the biggest new feature in the update — which is exclusive to PlayStation 5.
The “2.1” version of the advanced, machine-learning trained Gran Turismo Sophy AI sees a considerable expansion in its use, as it becomes available in regular Custom Races rather than just the preset events of before.
That means you can set up almost any kind of Custom Race, using the same settings, but with the Sophy AI selected instead of the standard game AI. There are a few restrictions, but it is otherwise pretty expansive.
Only tracks — and the one specific layout on each available track — that already supported Sophy can be selected, and there hasn’t been an increase this time round. You also can’t pick any rainy conditions, although this isn’t much of a surprise as Sophy hasn’t been seen driving in the wet yet, and it’s rolling starts only (though the Custom Race rolling start gap bug hasn’t been fixed yet).
Otherwise, you have pretty much free rein on settings, including up to the maximum 200 laps/24 hour race distances, 20 cars, tire wear and fuel consumption — requiring pit stops — and car selections, making it possible to have a huge range of new races against Sophy.
Note that if you want Sophy to race cars from your garage you will, as with the regular AI, only be able to select tunes and liveries you already have applied to vehicles and will need multiple examples if you want different ones for each AI. Sophy also hasn’t been trained on every car yet, but most are available to select.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.57: New Cars
Thanks to the pre-update teaser over the weekend and the subsequent informational post yesterday, we already knew what the three new cars would be. It’s only when the update arrives though that we know how much they’ll set you back and we weren’t too far off on our guesses:
- Aston Martin Vantage 2018 – Brand Central – 210,000cr
- Mazda CX-30 X Smart Edition 2021 – Brand Central – 29,000cr
- Renault Kangoo 1.4 2001 – Brand Central/Used Cars – 18,000cr
While not beating the previous update’s record low cost for acquiring all vehicles, 1.57 is still a pretty inexpensive one — with the cost mostly coming from the Aston Martin. At 210,000cr, it’s more than four times the cost of the other two vehicles put together although that’s probably not very surprising.
On the other hand, the Kangoo is one of the least-expensive vehicles ever added to the game, at 18,000cr in Brand Central. As a car from 2001, it’s also eligible for inclusion in Used Cars and it’s there as a Hot Pick right now for 13,500cr.
That leaves the Mazda CX-30, which is also a low-cost Brand Central addition, coming in at a hardly bank-breaking 29,000cr. That means a combined cost of 257,000cr if you buy all three, ranking this as the third least-expensive behind 1.56 and 1.43.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.57: New Events & Menus
As usual with these three-car updates, there’s three new races in the World Circuits area, and each has one of the new cars in mind and featured on its thumbnail.
None of the three feature hard Performance Point (PP) caps, so you can tune your cars up however you like for the events — but do be aware of the return on investment with that, regarding the credit value you receive for winning.
The Kangoo is the star of a new five-lap Sunday Cup event at Brands Hatch Indy, with 37,000cr available for victory. Tokyo hosts the Japanese FF Challenge 450, and the CX-30, for three laps of the Central Counterclockwise circuit and offering 45,000cr for winning. Finally, the longest and best-paying race is a five-lapper at Deep Forest Reverse in the European Clubman Cup 600, which pays out 75,000cr for victory and features the new Vantage.
- Brands Hatch Indy Circuit (5 laps) – Sunday Cup – 37,000cr
- Deep Forest Raceway Reverse (5 laps) – European Clubman Cup 600 – 75,000cr
- Tokyo Expressway Central Counterclockwise (3 laps) – Japanese FF Challenge 450 – 45,000cr
Extra Menu Book 45 – Suzuki
Extra Menu Book 45, Suzuki, is a collection challenge for the small, Japanese marque. There’s a bit of a spread of vehicles required, as you’ll need to pick up two from Brand Central and one from Legends — thus requiring quite a few credits.
The Jimny Sierra won’t harm your wallet, but the standard version of the Vision Gran Turismo car is a cool 1m credits. That just leaves the Escudo Pikes Peak which is, at time of writing, available as a Special Pick in Legends for 1.7m credits. Your reward for picking up all three? A Six-Star (Engine) ticket…

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.57: New Engine Swaps
We’re back to five engine swaps this month, and all cars already in the game and engines we’ve previously seen available for swaps.
Two generations of Ford GT — 2006 and 2017 — both get the near-1200hp Windsor engine from the SEMA-winning Greening Auto Company Maverick. Another pairing, this time BMWs, see identical upgrades as the classic 2JZ Supra engine is now available for the M2 Competition and last month’s Z4.
Finally you can now slot the EJ20 from the Impreza rally car into the 2015 Subaru BRZ S, marking a rare second option — alongside the Suzuki VGT Gr.3’s V8 — for that vehicle.
You’ll need to be Collector Level 50 to buy the engines directly from GT Auto, though they can be quite expensive. Engines are also available as prizes in some Roulette Tickets — including Six-Star (Engine) tickets, like the one in this month’s Suzuki menu book — at any level and can be swapped in your garage for free.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.57: Scapes and Other Changes
There’s 39 new Scapes locations featuring the small, North Atlantic archipelago of the Faroe Islands. Notably these are marked as being part of Denmark, of which the Faroes are a part but it is an autonomous territory.
The spots include some of the islands’ spectacular scenery and a few of its settlements — including the capital Torshavn — which might seem a little familiar to Forza Horizon 4 players as the Faroes were part of the inspiration behind the largely Skye-based Fortune Island expansion.
Other changes include reverting the standard tires across the game from Michelin to the generic “Gran Turismo” tires. Michelin is also removed from the “Partners” section of Brand Central, confirming what we’d already suspected from its absence from 2025 Gran Turismo World Series imagery.
A new option has been added to the Car Valuation Service in Used Cars, which allows you to sort by the number of examples of each car you own. That’s probably most useful if you have several Honda NSX Gr.Bs still (to pluck a car not at all at random), but will also identify high-value cars you can do without due to duplication.
Updates to the E36 BMW M3, which gets some modelling changes, and the Unimog’s suspension settings range have also been applied, and there’s now official support for the Thrustmaster T598 too.
As usual there’s the regular note that “various other issues have been addressed”, which covers a range of items from things like new “real” paints to small changes in item descriptions. Our community will be uncovering further details over the coming days in a dedicated Undocumented Changes thread.
If you’ve been holding onto hope that the long-awaited update to Suzuka’s circuit environment, or Fanatec Fullforce support, will be among them, just keep holding onto it…
