A third new Gran Turismo 7 content update for 2025 is now confirmed to be coming to your PlayStation consoles on Thursday March 27, with update 1.57 officially on its way.
The new trailer and its regular accompanying blog post confirms details previously hinted at in the traditional pre-update teaser from Polyphony Digital chief Kazunori Yamauchi, although there’s still plenty more to find out when the update itself actually lands.
That’s going to be in its most-common spot of the final Thursday of a calendar month, with an associated game maintenance window taking place for around two hours on the morning. We’ll also see the patch notes at that time, with more detail, but for now this is what you can expect:

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.57: New Cars
Thanks to the usual update timeline, we already knew that three cars would be coming in this update, and made our predictions of what they would be — at least broadly. Today’s trailer reveals more detail that isn’t always possible to spot in the silhouettes, but does confirm we were there or thereabouts.
- Aston Martin Vantage 2018 – Brand Central
- Mazda CX-30 X Smart Edition 2021 – Brand Central
- Renault Kangoo 1.4 2001 – Brand Central/Used Cars
There’s two headlining cars for rather different reasons, but we’re going to highlight the Renault Kangoo first. It’s now confirmed to be the MPV version of the first-generation car, rather than the “Express” van, so we just miss out on a second successive month for a commercial vehicle following the Unimog.
A very popular vehicle in Japan, which hosts the world’s largest gathering of Kangoos every year, this is definitely going to be one of the more niche items in the game but hopefully comes with a raft of visual upgrades as befits its position in the nation. Also an engine swap, as the 75hp, naturally aspirated, gas 1.4 couldn’t pull the skin off cold custard — though it’ll make for a proper preservation of momentum machine until then!

One that’ll get pulses racing more widely is the 2018 Aston Martin Vantage. As we expected, this marks the debut of the latest iteration, AM6 generation Vantage in the series, but in pre-facelift, V8 form rather than the later V12 or the updated 2024 model. Nonetheless, that means a 500hp version of the AMG four-liter twin turbo for this scaled-down DB11-lite model.
Finally we have a more relatable modern car, as the Mazda CX-30 crossover makes its debut in… well, any driving game. Or at least any in which you can actually drive the cars. For GT7 we get the relatively high specification X Smart Edition, which uses the 188hp e-SkyActiv X engine — a sort of diesel/gas crossover — like its sibling Mazda 3, but driving the front wheels only.
As usual we won’t know how much the vehicles will cost until the update arrives, but it looks set to be a second successive low-cost update. The 1.56 update would have set you back a record low 167,600cr, and while it’s likely the Vantage will beat that by itself, we’re not expecting the Kangoo to break the bank even as its Brand Central version. Figure on something around 300,000cr all-in.
Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.57: GT Sophy 2.1
PlayStation 4 users look away now, as one of the main features of the update is a PS5 exclusive that sees a change to the Gran Turismo Sophy functionality.
From 1.57, you’ll be able to pick Sophy as an AI opponent in Custom Races rather than having to select the Sophy-specific events. It looks like this might still be limited to specific tracks (those with the Sophy logo on them) though.
However this does mean you’ll be able to set up races with much more freedom than the existing 2/3/5-lap events against the advanced AI, including other settings such as weather, time of day, and fuel and tire consumption multipliers.
Somewhat curiously, you can also select and tune the cars that the Sophy AI will be using — though it looks like that’ll cost you credits, and it could be from cars in your garage judging by the screenshots.
We’re going to have to wait to see what this looks like when implemented in the game, but it certainly appears to be an interesting development.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.57: New Races & Menu Books
We’ll be getting a new GT Cafe Extra Menu book in 1.57, which focuses on the Suzuki marque. This car-collection task will require you to pick up the Jimny Sierra, the standard version of the Vision GT, and the wild Escudo Pikes Peak, though there’s no details on what the reward for doing so it.
While the Jimny isn’t expensive, the VGT is the standard 1m credits for cars of this type, and the Escudo is a seven-figure Legends Cars pick. Extra Menu rewards are usually Five- and Six-Star Roulettes, so it’s probably you’ll be spending more than you get back…
Three new races are coming too, although we’ll need to wait for the update to find out formats and rewards. As usual, each event looks to include one of the new vehicles, with the Japanese FF Challenge 450 at Tokyo Expressway’s Central Counterclockwise route for the Mazda, the European Clubman Cup 600 race at Deep Forest Raceway Reverse for the Aston Martin, and Brands Hatch Indy hosting a Sunday Cup race — probably featuring the Kangoo.

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.57: New Scapes & Other Changes
A new territory makes its debut in Scapes, as one of the most northerly selections yet, by way of the Faroe Islands. This archipelago in the Northern Atlantic Ocean sits between Scotland, Iceland, and Norway, and features some spectacular views.
It looks like there’ll be 39 new locations included in the selection, with the eye-baffling Traelanipan and Lake Leitisvatn highlighted in the teaser.
As usual there’s not much other information at this time, and the patch notes that release with the update will reveal more specifics, including any new engine swaps. It looks incredibly unlikely that there’s a new circuit, which will mean that if one doesn’t come next month the game will set a new record for both updates and calendar months between circuit additions…
The update itself arrives at around 0600 UTC on Thursday March 27. Watch this space for all the latest!
