A server maintenance post on the official game website has revealed that a new update for Gran Turismo 7 is coming on Thursday September 1.
It comes only a week on from the most recent game update, v1.20, which brought the first mixed-surface course in Gran Turismo’s PlayStation 4 era, as well as the Ayrton Senna-driven McLaren MP4/4.
The timing, along with the language of the post, suggests that this is an update intended to correct some of the game’s known issues rather than bringing along more new content. That means it’s unlikely to be a particularly large update — in the region of 250MB.
Although the post’s phrasing varies from region to region, all include the words “general bug fixes”, which makes it pretty clear that the “game update maintenance” won’t change anything beyond items listed in the known issues post.
There’s a variety of things currently shown there, with the most recent being related to the 1.20 update. One relates to the rate of tire wear in a specific Mission — The Sun Also Rises, Bathurst Gr.3 Battle — which makes it difficult to complete without serious tire conservation, while the other affects the new Rallycross course in certain circumstances.
Players will also be aware of a few longer-term issues, primarily centered on multiplayer in lobby and two-player split-screen modes. A graphical glitch with upgraded exhaust parts is another on the list.
We won’t know precisely what’s in the update or what issues have been addressed until it arrives. It will become available during the server maintenance, which will start at the usual 0600 UTC on September 1.
From that point you won’t be able to play most of GT7 until you have applied the update and the maintenance ends approximately two hours later.
