Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Free Radical

The new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges are arriving today around the world as consoles tick past midnight it each region, with five new challenges available for the next seven days.

Weekly Challenges is a new feature added in Spec II update, consisting of a curated playlist of events drawn from those already available in the World Circuits menus and sometimes a special, limited time challenge unique to the week.

Where you’ve already completed one of the given challenges in regular gameplay, you’ll still need to race them again for the Weekly Challenges — or at least if you want the Weekly Challenge bonuses.

This week does see the return of the Special Event, a brand-new race created just for this week and taking place at Road Atlanta. You’ll need the Radical SR3 SL for this event which will be one of the quickest ways to earn money this week. It’s a five-lap race at the course, worth 81,000cr for victory, and there’s no upper limit on the performance points (PP)…

Elsewhere the races range from slow and of little reward to some more intriguing challenges, beginning as usual with a Sunday Cup race. For this week that’s a European Sunday Cup 400 event at Brands Hatch Indy, requiring only a European Road Car — the 400PP suggestion is just that and not a limit. You’ll earn 7,000cr for winning the two-lap race.

If you happened to use a Porsche of 650PP or less for that event, you can carry on to Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps for the Porsche Cup, where that’s the requirement. This five-lap race is far less straightforward, and worth 87,500cr for the win.

Autopolis hosts the Japanese Clubman Cup 550 — again only a suggestion of 550PP, rather than a cap — for a three-lap race in road cars from Japan. There’s 20,000cr on the table should you take victory.

Finally we head back to the Americas for a spot of jumping in the Pickup Truck Race at Colorado Springs. There’s 30,000cr available for winning the three-lap race, which requires either a Ford F150 Raptor or a Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, equipped with Dirt Tires — and don’t worry about a PP limit!

This week’s bonus rewards are some guaranteed hard cash, with a 100,000cr ticket for completing one event and a 200,000cr ticket for completing three. Finishing all five awards you with a Five-Star Roulette Ticket, which has around a 50% chance of awarding either 100,000cr or 500,000cr (and a 50% chance of something else), so it’s a potentially decent haul of credits.

The Weekly Challenges update at midnight local time on Wednesday evenings/Thursday mornings, with the next set due at that time on December 20/21. You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access.
