The final Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges of 2023 are now available, depending on your local timezone settings, with five new events for players to get through over the next week for some high-value prizes.
Added in the Spec II update, Weekly Challenges is a feature that brings a short, curated playlist of events from the game’s World Circuits — sometimes, as with this week, bringing a newly created Special Event just for the week — with prizes for completing multiple races. Should they be events you’ve already completed, you’ll still need to do them again and finish third or better for the Weekly Challenge bonuses.
The Special Event this week will be one of the quietest ever, as it’s a one-make event for the recently added Tesla Model 3. You’ll be heading to Tokyo Expressway’s Central Clockwise circuit for this two-lap race in the Model 3, with no limitations on tuning (although the Tesla is pretty limited on tuning as it is) and a 27,000cr prize for first place.
There’s another appearance of Brands Hatch, as the Indy circuit this week hosts the Sunday Cup Classic. It’s another short blast, covering just two laps in any road car and worth 5,000cr for victory.
Kyoto Driving Park also hosts a two-lap race, although it’s around the longer Yamagiwa layout and for the slightly quicker Japanese 4WD Challenge 600. As the name suggests, you’ll need a car from Japan that’s also all-wheel drive — Road cars and Tuned cars are eligible — although the 600PP target hinted by the name is a suggestions only. There’s 20,000cr for the win.
Two much more lucrative events cap off this week’s challenges, starting with a run in the Neo-Classic Competition at Red Bull Ring.
There’s a little hoop-jumping here, as you’ll need to have at least started the Neo-Classic Competition Menu Book — Book 43 — in order to see the race, and you’ll need to be Collector Level 33 before you can even see the book itself.
Once you’ve actually got access, it’s a ten-lap race requiring a car from between 1980 and 1999 inclusive, under a hard 800PP cap and on Racing tires. There’s 154,000cr for taking the win here, and watch out for changing weather.
That leads into the big-money race this week, which is the first timed event we’ve seen in Weekly Challenges to date. It’s a weather-enabled, one-hour race at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (on the 24h layout, so don’t celebrate victory too soon!) in the World Touring Car 800 series, requiring any car equipped with any type of Racing tire within the 800PP limit. It’s worth 1,000,000cr for victory.
As with last week, this week’s bonus rewards are all cash prizes but at a much higher value. You’ll win a 100,000cr ticket for completing one event, a 200,000cr ticket for completing three, and a 1,000,000cr ticket for finishing all five — the largest credit prize we’ve seen yet.
The Weekly Challenges update at midnight local time on Wednesday evenings/Thursday mornings, with the next set due at that time on January 3/4 2024. You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access.
