Despite also being update day for Gran Turismo 7, all the regularly scheduled events are swapping over on cue — including the Weekly Challenges, which update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings.
Naturally, with plenty of new content available, we’re seeing some of the cars and the track — yes, the track — introduced in the 1.49 update playing a role in this week’s events.
If you’ve not participated in the Weekly Challenges before, they’re essentially a set of five events that you have a week to complete in order to win bonus rewards. For the most part they’re existing races from World Circuits that you might have completed before — but would have to do so again in the week’s window — but there’s also the occasional Special Event created just for the week.
That applies again this week, with a new one-make challenge for the Lamborghini Gallardo added in the update. It’s a five-lap race around the Sardegna Road Track B course, with 90,000cr on the table for taking the win. There’s no limit to how you tune the car either, but it’s not worth going overboard and taking a loss on it.
The new Eiger Nordwand circuit makes its debut in this week’s challenges, with an event in the Jimny Cup. Again this is a one-make event, for the Suzuki Jimny in any state of tune, and winning the three-lap race earns you 40,000cr. Do be aware though that you may — if you haven’t already done so — need to start Bonus Menu Book 50 in order to see this event.
Fishermans Ranch makes back-to-back appearances in the Weekly Challenges, with the event switching to the World Rally Challenge. You can use any car with Dirt Tires and within a 700PP limit for this two-lap run, and there’s 65,000cr for taking the win.
The Hypercar Parade is another event that might require unlocking, through Bonus Menu Book 44. For this week’s challenge you’ll need to complete the seven-lap race at Interlagos, and any Road Car of any kind is eligible for this. As rivals may include an Aston Martin Valkyrie, something fast is required if you want the 95,000cr first-place prize.
Finally there’s a World Touring Car 700 race at Laguna Seca. It’s a ten-lap event for cars up to a 700PP limit and equipped with Racing Tires of any kind. Keep an eye, especially with the new tire model, on your rubber with the high degradation rate in this race. Taking victory earns you 110,000cr.
It’s all about the credits for this week’s rewards, with 100,000cr, 200,000cr, and 500,000cr tickets for completing one, three, and all five events respectively. Remember that you’ll need to redeem from your garage’s Gifts section to add the credits to your in-game bank account.
You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday August 2.
