Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: Double Deutsche

A new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges will become available today, depending on where you are in the world, bringing a fresh set of five events to tackle during the week — including a very unusual Special Event that harks back to a classic motorsport era.

GT7’s Weekly Challenges consist of a set of five events, usually drawn from existing World Circuits events but with unique events created just for the week also in a regular spot. Completing the events during the week’s window earn you bonus rewards, for finishing one, three, or all five events.

This week’s one-off is a pretty neat-looking homage to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft of the 1980s and 1990s. It’s a series which has featured in previous Gran Turismo games, through several vehicles, but the roster is a little smaller in GT7 right now and consists only of the Alfa Romeo 155 ’93.

That’s addressed by custom tuning for several of the AI cars — BMW E30 M3, Ford Sierra RS500, and Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 — and custom DTM-like liveries to generate the same feel, in a similar way to the recent All-Japan Grand Touring Championship events from previous Weekly Challenges.

You’re not limited to any particular vehicle, vehicle type, or even tuning, so you can enter the race in any car you like in any state of tune — but if you want to get into the swing of it and go for authenticity, any of the above cars or the ’92 Supra would be fun. The race itself takes up ten laps of the Nurburgring Sprint course, and awards an immense 150,000cr.

It’s actually a week of pretty high-paying races, with the lowest award being 25,000cr in the European Clubman Cup 600 at Brands Hatch GP. You can use any road car from any European brand for this three-lap race.

We’ve got an unusual state of affairs where one location hosts two events this week, as the Nurburgring Nordschleife is the chosen stop for the Schwarzwald League. It’s a one-lap run for German cars of 700PP of lower, and do watch out for a fast-charging AI machine down the Dottinger Hohe if you want that 64,000cr first-place prize.

You might need to unlock the next race, as the Hypercar Parade sits in the Bonus Menu Book selection. Once available, it’s a five-lap tour of Monza for any road car of any kind and in any state of tune for an 85,000cr reward.

The final event this week is a new one added in update 1.52 earlier today. You’ll be heading to Circuit de Sainte-Croix A in the Nissan GT-R Cup which, unsurprisingly, is limited to roadgoing Nissan GT-R models. Tuning is up to you so long as the car uses Sports Tires and doesn’t exceed 700PP, with the three-lap race worth a cool 94,000cr.

This week’s bonus rewards are all cash — or at least all redeemable cash tickets, so don’t leave them sitting in your Gifts section for long. There’s 100,000cr for completing any one event, 200,000cr for checking off three, and 500,000cr should you complete all five by the time they switch out.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday October 11.
