Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: A-OKei

The latest new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges is landing on consoles right around now, as midnight passes in each time zone, with five more events to tackle over the coming seven days.

GT7’s Weekly Challenges are a short, curated playlist of events which are — for the most part — drawn from those already available in the World Circuits area. Over the last few months we’ve seen a regular appearance of a brand-new “Special Event” race created just for the week too. Completing them within the week’s window will see you earn bonus rewards, with higher-value prizes the more you complete.

There’s an interesting look to this week’s selection of events, with two that require additional steps to unlock if you haven’t already done so and a very unusual Special Event indeed which we’ll come to in a minute.

It’s another relative money-spinner of a week, with the lowest payout belonging to the European FR Challenge 550 at the Nurburgring GP course. The “550” of the name is a suggested value for the Performance Points (PP) of your car but not a hard limit: you only need a road car from a European brand for this five-lap race, with victory worth 25,000cr.

There’s a bump in value to the Historic Sports Car Masters (which you’ll need to unlock) at Big Willow. It’ll award you 70,000cr if you take the win in the five-lap race, but there’s a pretty tight list of restrictions. You’ll need a road car of any type, with no more than 580PP, and it must be from the 1960-1989 production years.

The Special Event is the next most-valuable, and you might do a bit of a double-take. It’s a Lightweight K-Cup event but not part of the Lightweight K-Cup series you unlock through the appropriate Bonus Menu Book. That’s despite having the same restrictions — any Kei car at up to 400PP and on Comfort Soft tires — as the main event. Prize money is up a fair bit though, at 80,000cr for taking victory in this ten-lap race of Kyoto Driving Park’s tiny Miyabi course.

Hypercar Parade — another series requiring you to unlock it — offers 95,000cr if you can win, with the race comprising a six-lap run around Dragon Trail Gardens. You can use any road car of any kind in any state of tune for this, with several of the Vision GT cars being options for smurfing it.

Finally there’s the World Touring Car 800 race at Autopolis International. It’s a tricky ten-lapper due to the high rate of tire wear and fuel consumption, and the 800PP in the name is a hard cap; your opponents will all be Gr.3 cars. Victory will award you 160,000cr.

Special Roulette tickets are on offer again in this week’s rewards. It’s a Parts-only ticket for clearing one event, a 150,000cr ticket (which you’ll need to redeem from your Garage’s “Gifts” section) for finishing three, and the highly prized Car ticket for completing the set. This awards a Brand Central car of any value from 500,000cr and up, and may include Invitation-only cars too.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday November 8.
