Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: German Bite

The surprises continue with the latest set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges, becoming available around the world as your console’s clock passes midnight this evening.

Weekly Challenges are a curated selection of GT7’s World Circuits events, offering bonus rewards for completion during the seven-day window. Five races are posted each week, largely drawn from those that already exist, but with a regular place for a “Special Event” created just for the week.

It’s the second week in a row that we see the return of a fan-favorite from previous weeks, and the surprise is that it’s a fourth event in the series. Until last week’s All Japan GT Championship event, no Special Event theme had gone beyond three races before being retired.

Now we’re at two in two, as the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters makes a fourth entry with a new, eight-lap race at Monza. The AI here uses tuned road cars (and the Alfa Romeo 155 Gr.4) dressed up as era-appropriate DTM machines, but you don’t have to stick to that theme if you don’t want to.

In fact you can enter the race with any car of any kind, and as the race is worth 150,000cr for the win (or 225,000cr if you get the clean race bonus) it’s certainly a consideration for extreme smurfing to grind cash if you’re into that sort of thing.

Not every race is as lucrative though. The Sunday Cup Classic at Goodwood is a two-lap race for road cars that nets 5,000cr for the race win. With the only requirement being a road car, and some of the Vision GTs being eligible, it might be a good challenge to see if you can lap the field unless you feel like going more in-keeping with the classic car grid.

Road Atlanta hosts the American FR Challenge 550 which, as the name suggests, is a race for American cars with a front-engine, rear-wheel drive set up. You’ll also need to ensure that they’re road cars, but that “550” designation is just a suggestion of a competitive Performance Point (PP) level. Win the three-lap race for 37,000cr.

Roadgoing Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution models (except the Gr.B Road Car) are required for the Evolution Meeting race at Colorado Springs Lake — and you’ll need to fit your car with the Dirt tire option too. This race, which you may need to unlock, offers 72,000cr for finishing the four laps in first.

Finally we have 115,000cr on offer for victory in the Hypercar Parade — another event you might need to unlock — at the Le Mans circuit. This also just requires road cars, but you’ll want something with serious legs to deal with the huge, full-throttle sections over the three-lap race.

We’re back to cash rewards this week, with 100,000cr, 200,000cr, and 500,000cr for completing one, three and five races respectively. They’re not straight credit rewards: you’ll need to redeem these from your Garage’s Gifts section, so be sure not to forget and miss out.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday December 20.
