Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges: All at C

A new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges is — depending on your time zone — now available, with a fresh set of five events to tackle across the next seven days.

There’s something of a Christmas present in the set this week, as a Special Event race which attracted a lot of attention the first time it was posted returns at a new venue. That sits alongside the four events plucked from the existing GT7’s World Circuits events, to give the familiar format. Completing the races during the week will earn you bonus rewards, depending on how many you check off the list.

We’ll start with a slowish rollercoaster race this week, as the European Sunday Cup 400 makes a trip to the Alsace Test Course’s reverse layout. This three-lap affair features one of the game’s oddest corners, and you’ll need a road car from a European manufacturer to take part; the AI will sit close to that “400” Performance Point (PP) figure, but it’s not compulsory for you to do so. With just 7,000cr on offer, you could just blast it with a Ferrari or Skoda Vision GT…

A 400PP limit is in force though at the Lightweight K Cup race at Tokyo Expressway South Clockwise. You’ll need a Kei car on Comfort Soft tires and no better-rated than 400PP for the event, which you may also need to unlock, and the three-lap race is worth 32,000cr for taking the win.

Oddly, we’re staying at Tokyo Expressway — a rare occasion with two races at one location in one week — but heading to the East Clockwise course for the Nissan GT-R Cup. For this you’ll need a roadgoing Nissan GT-R model rated no higher than 700PP, and victory over the four laps will earn you 72,000cr.

There’s also a 700PP limit for the next race, the Ferrari Circuit Challenge at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. While you’ll obviously need a Ferrari for this, there’s no other limit — you could grab the Gr.3 car and wind it down in the settings, for example — and there’s 95,000cr for winning this five-lap race.

Finally there’s that Special Event, which brings back the “World Group C Racing Championship”. This race features the four Group C cars — the Jaguar XJR-9, Mazda 787B, Nissan R92CP, and Sauber C9 — in the AI field, decked out in recreations of classic liveries, but you have no restrictions on what cars you can enter for the ten-lap race at the Watkins Glen Long Course — even if sticking to the theme looks and feels more fun. Winning scores you 140,000cr.

For a second week in a row, the rewards are all in credit form. You’ll pick up 100,000cr, 200,000cr, and 500,000cr tickets for completing one, three and five races — and don’t forget that these are tickets to be redeemed from your Garage’s Gifts section, so don’t forget and miss out on your hard-earned loot.

You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday December 27.
