Another Thursday means another new set of Gran Turismo 7 Weekly Challenges is — depending on your time zone — on its way or already with you.
Weekly Challenges comprise of five events, updating each week, with four selected from existing World Circuits events and a fifth Special Event that appears for one week only. Completing the events — by finishing third or better — during the seven days they’re available earns you bonus rewards that increase in value the more events you finish.
Our small-fry race this week is the three-lap Japanese FR Challenge 450 at Tsukuba Circuit. The “450” notation is a mere suggestion for a competitive Performance Point (PP) value for your car, but really you can enter any front-engined, rear-wheel drive, road or tuned car from Japan. Victory in the race is worth 10,000cr.
An odd, almost-duplicate race awaits in the Special Event this week, with a new round of the Jimny Cup. It’s rare to see existing Menu Books get a new race in Weekly Challenges, and rarer still to see it at the same track location as a standard event.
However, that’s just what you’ll be doing, with Lake Louise hosting its second event in the series, this time at the Long Course. As you might guess, you’ll need either Suzuki Jimny model for this three-lap race which is also one of the lowest-paying Specials we’ve seen, at 35,000cr for the win.
The rewards get bigger quickly this week, as the next step up is the Historic Sports Car Masters race at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. This three-lapper is worth 55,000cr if you take the victory, but does come with some interesting limitations. You’ll need a road car built between 1960 and 1989, and at no greater than 580PP — and beware that the race will be locked if you haven’t started Bonus Menu Book 46.
Suzuka Circuit hosts another three-lap race, in the shape of the European Clubman Cup 600. Like the earlier race, this isn’t PP-limited — so the “600” is just a suggestion — and you can enter with any road car from a European brand. First place offers 60,000cr.
That just leaves the usual six-figure race, which this week is a Gr.1 Prototype Series event at Grand Valley Highway-1. It’s a ten-lap blast with some pretty steep tire wear and fuel consumption multipliers, and you’ll be required to use a car at or below 950PP and equipped with racing tires. The win is worth 160,000cr though.
It’s just cash on offer in this week’s bonuses, but do be aware that it’s awarded as tickets and not directly to your game stash. You’ll need to redeem them from your Garage’s Gifts section to claim the money. For this week it’s 100,000cr, 200,000cr, and 500,000cr, for completing one, three, and all five events respectively.
You’ll need to have completed GT Cafe Menu Book 39 and watched the ending movie in order to have access to the Weekly Challenges. The events update at midnight local time on Thursday evenings/Friday mornings, so we’d expect the next set on the morning of Friday January 31.
